The New York office has an immediate opening for a Vice President to join our rapidly expanding technology practice.  This position is ideal for a big picture-focused, entrepreneurial professional who wants to work on fully integrated product communications programs for global clients in the home entertainment, enterprise technology, and telecommunications industries. You have experience developing and executing campaigns that go beyond traditional media relations (reviews program experience is a must) but still understand the importance of building and maintaining key influencer relationships. You’re excited about the opportunity to tell a consumer tech product story to a variety of media—think everything from consumer lifestyle to consumer tech publications--and about serving as a true strategic partner and advisor to the client.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the agency account team for a global consumer technology brand and contribute to a multi-office global agency team.
  • The ideal candidate will work with senior members of the technology practice to manage and execute integrated communications programs that embrace all areas of communications for both enterprise and consumer technology clients, including M&A work, branding, corporate reputation, social media management, product PR, and crisis/issues management.
  • As a strategic counselor, the candidate will have day-to-day client communications, and contribute to work streams and teams on content development, including strategic messaging and storytelling development, synthesizing complex technical material into consumer-focused messaging, as well as project and account management.
  • Work with integrated teams to provide clients with seamless multi-channel solutions utilizing traditional PR, digital and social media platforms to deliver maximum performance and results.
  • Review/assess industry trends to identify opportunities to inject FH’s clients into current news cycles; drive story idea development, work closely with media to shape and control communications that are in line with overall account objectives.
  • Develop consumer tech product communications programs that can be executed on a global scale.
  • Draft a variety of materials including product messaging documents, executive scripts, product demo scripts, press releases, blog posts, thought leadership positioning and narratives.
  • Generate incremental business opportunities with the client by taking a broad view of the entire communications mix and offering strategic recommendations to drive innovative and award-winning integrated communications programs.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to pristine writing in all forms of communication, from day-to-day client email communications to strategic plans to press releases to executive talking points.
  • Knowledge of consumer tech product launch cycles.
  • Strong strategic thinker, with an ability to dive deep into products to develop strong messaging and storytelling that will resonate globally. Agency experience is preferred.
  • Ability to engage with and counsel clients, deliver connective insights to assist clients in driving alignment and refinement of product positioning, messaging and narratives.
  • Familiarity with global technology and business media, and developing assets that will resonate with them.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment among energetic, self-starters who like to problem solve and get things done.
  • Comfortable with travel, including international travel.
  • 6-8 years of agency experience in developing and implementing communications programs, with an emphasis on communications and public relations work for consumer technology clients, particularly with those focused on cloud computing, mobility, emerging tech (AI, VR, etc.) and/or big data.
  • Broad technology business understanding, strong analytical abilities and critical, creative thinking.  Candidate should have the ability to engage off- and online audiences, and tell complex stories in an easily digestible way.
  • Proven success working with a variety of media and bloggers including consumer lifestyle and consumer tech outlets. Experience in mobile/telecommunications, consumer technology, and/or enterprise hardware and software is preferred.  A demonstrated hands-on media approach is required.
  • Ability to engage with and counsel senior level decision-makers across the client’s business, and deliver connective insights to assist clients in driving alignment and execution of cross-company initiatives.  Candidate should have experience building relationships and working with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with clients on day-to-day activities, managing teams to effectively execute public relations plans, and drafting and implementing strategic corporate communications programs within budget.
  • Superior writing skills, with the ability to develop and edit high-quality materials such communications plans, position papers, fact sheets, news and online media materials, bylined articles, trend analysis summaries, executive correspondence, and presentations.
  • The ability to develop and generate support for strategic, comprehensive communications plans that apply creative tactics and use a variety of communication channels, including digital (e-mail, social media, blogs and intranet), print publications and brochures, executive memos, face-to-face meeting scripts/talking points, special events, video, and FAQs.
  • Experience with new digital media and social networking tactics and program development.  Strong understanding of communities, monitoring, social networking, viral marketing and online community relations.
  • Experience managing and coordinating projects with multiple work streams, including managing more junior team members, both directly and indirectly.
  • A strong team orientation is critical based on the collaborative culture of the office and FleishmanHillard.
  • Ability to illustrate a results-focused approach and commitment to going the extra mile for clients. Experience working directly with clients on day-to-day activities.
  • Energetic, self-starter and resourceful problem solver – gets things moving and keeps them on track. High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
  • Good interpersonal skills, can work effectively in a team environment, negotiate approvals diplomatically, and maintain composure and quality under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The anticipated salary range for the Vice President level is $77,000- $175,000.

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off and/or other benefits also are available.
