Fleetio is looking for a product-minded and team-oriented Senior Software Engineer committed to consistently delivering quality software to join our Billing team.

In this role, you will help evolve our billing platform, which includes subscription management, payments infrastructure, invoicing, and financial integrations. Additionally, you will work with our Product teams to run billing and monetization experiments to expand our growth and impact. The Billing Team serves a critical purpose in our business: developing and maintaining Fleetio's revenue engine.

Who you are

The ideal candidate has a passion for and experience collaborating with others and solving business problems with scalable architecture, attention to detail, a focus on quality, and a seamless user experience. You are proactive and thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can make a significant impact. You have extensive experience planning, designing, and building billing and payment solutions with internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners such as Product Managers, Designers, and Quality Engineers. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others is key to your success. This role is part of the Engineering department and you will report to the Web Engineering Manager.

Your impact

  • You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Finance stakeholders, and other Engineers to consistently deliver high-quality software.
  • You will take part in planning, designing, and implementing solutions for our Billing functionality within Fleetio.
  • You will engage in collaborative design and architecture of features.
  • You will deliver well-tested, maintainable, and performant code.
  • You will research and implement prototypes and spikes as necessary to validate assumptions and technical feasibility.
  • You will possess a strong voice in development and planning processes.
  • You will thoroughly review your peers’ code to ensure quality and consistency and to share knowledge.

Your experience

  • 5+ years experience with Ruby on Rails or similar backend framework
  • 3+ years experience with ReactJS, Typescript or other modern frontend framework
  • Experience building full-stack billing, subscriptions, and payment systems and features
  • Extensive experience building and working with integrating with 3rd party APIs
  • Varied experience solving challenging architectural problems with good design
  • Previous experience working closely with a product team to architect solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced writing unit and UI tests, with tools such as Rspec and Jest
