As the Brand Ambassador for Flatiron School Chicago, you are the face of Flatiron School to prospective students and the wider tech community in Chicago. In this role, you will assist our Regional Marketing Manager in building and maintaining an engaged prospective student community in Chicago on a part-time basis (15-20 hours a week).  This is a consumer-facing role and will be best for individuals who are outgoing, driven, enjoy meeting new people and are enthusiastic about representing a brand on the front line to potential prospects and partners. 

As the Brand Ambassador, you represent Flatiron School with the highest respect for prospective students and their engagement with the brand and embody Flatiron School’s core values both externally and internally: make no little plans, be scrappy, work together, radiate positivity, and pursue mastery. 

This role has an opportunity to shape what community engagement looks like for prospective students, and innovate through mediums like social media, local marketing tactics, end-to-end events management, sponsorships, and local partners. This is a cross-functional role reporting into the Regional Marketing Manager with collaboration across the Admissions, Education, and Operations teams.

The Brand Ambassador will:

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of local events: 

    • In partnership with the Regional Marketing Manager, identify target audience in and around Chicago to generate hundreds of event attendees on a monthly basis

    • Execute monthly event strategy, budget and calendar

    • Execute marketing plans to drive attendance to every event

    • Execute post-event communications and all event promotional materials

    • Be able to answer key questions on our products - their values, features, and benefits

    • Execute run of show logistics including event set-up, vendor relationships, food & beverage, event attendee check-in, decorations, swag, confirmation of speakers, post-event teardown, and post-event surveys, etc.

    • Execute all aspects of event experience for Flatiron School Chicago including evening or weekend events

    • Regularly report event performance, including RSVPs, attendees, and specific event feedback and experience

    • Where needed, open to conducting campus tours with prospective students 

 

  • Activate relevant local partners and communities to grow Flatiron School presence: 

    • Under the supervision of the Regional Marketing Manager and regional needs, improve Flatiron School’s presence in the communities we’re currently active in

    • Regularly communicate Flatiron School offerings to WeWork counterparts with the goal to leverage and activate the WeWork member community

    • Respond to questions from community members on events platforms where needed: Meetup, Eventbrite, Splash

  • Support the Regional Marketing Manager:

    • Act as the “eyes and ears” of each market: regularly share local insights, provide photos, and gather intel on competitors

    • Support execution of local advertising, including flyers, guerilla/street marketing

A successful Brand Ambassador is/has:

  • 1+ years of professional event, field marketing, and community marketing experience and able  to work nights/weekends and regular hours, no more than 15-20 hours a week

  • A market-expert: you are native to Chicago or have lived in Chicago for 6+ months and are embedded in the local scene

  • Extremely social: you thrive in front of a crowd and enjoy interacting with others

  • A doer: highly motivated, organized and scrappy. Able to see ideas through implementation independently

  • A culture carrier: empathetic to our students and mission-driven

  • A strong cross-functional communicator that is organized and meets agreed upon deadlines

  • A quick learner: from new applications to new concepts, you pick things up quickly and enthusiastically

  • Experience in community management, social media management, or event management (preferred)

  • Eventbrite or Splash experience (a plus)
