Flatiron School is looking for Governance Risk Compliance, Strategy & Analysis, a Threat Intelligence Instructor (Non-Technical) to support cybersecurity education.

The ideal individual is an experienced professional who is a team player, loves working in a collaborative environment, invests in the future of cybersecurity, and is hungry to grow our premier education experience at our London campus. This instructor is responsible for preparation, instruction, and engagement with Flatiron School students.

You will create, fine-tune and execute a dynamic applied Cyber Security curriculum to build the next generation of entry-level professionals.  This role reports to the Senior Education Manager and works in close association with the Curriculum and Education Operation team.

 Responsibilities: 

  • Teaching GRC, Strategy & Analysis and other cybersecurity modules  to cohorts 

  • Working closely with our corporate Curriculum & Product teams to maintain and update our classroom content 

  • Mentoring and sharing feedback to our students 

  • Creating a safe and collaborative environment where students understand that helping their peers betters their own experience.

  • Leveraging passion as a force for motivation by sharing what you are passionate about with your students and working those topics into lesson plans as appropriate.

  • Embracing change and thrive in ambiguity by helping students and staff with real time efforts, like grading a student’s project or assignment, while devoting time and effort to developing the macro learning plan.

  • Preparing your own lectures but anticipating last minutes changes based on the class' progress and learning goals.

  • Integrating feedback from team members on progress of class to set pacing and determine tactical interventions.

  • Use feedback from students gathered via class surveys to greatly exceed the minimum bar.

  • Empower others to succeed by conducting interviews for instructors and students for future cohorts.

  • Provide feedback to team members by conducting weekly 1 on 1s and over-communicating on a daily basis.

  • Build for scale by planning, writing, and delivering lectures in accordance with the progress and pace of the class.

  • Pilot our experimental efforts in curriculum and pedagogical style pursuing our collective unending quest to provide the best experience and most positive outcomes.

  • Develop and lead student project sprints throughout the semester.

Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of experience and expertise in cybersecurity -  Systems Security, Network Security, Applied Cryptology, Logs and Detection, Governance/Risk & Compliance, Security Strategy and Analysis, and Cyber Threat Intelligence. 

  • Working expertise with some or all of the following Information Security compliance standards; Fedramp, NIST, HIPPA, PCI, Federal Risk Management Framework.

  • Working expertise in applying Risk Management processes including Risk Analysis, Risk Assessment, Risk scoring.

  • Working knowledge of NIST Risk Management framework and its application.

  • Working knowledge and application of the ICS 20 Security Controls.

  • Working knowledge of Security planning, business continuation planning and disaster response.

  • Working knowledge of other Risk frameworks such as COBIT.

  • Standards / Frameworks (CoBIT 5, ITIL, ISO 15504, ISO 20000, ISO 27000, ISO 31000, ISO 38500, NIST series 800 guidance)

  • Additional industry certifications from Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, EC-Council, SANS etc. are preferred. 

  • Extensive experience with Cyber Threat Intelligence

  • Subject matter expertise with adversarial thinking, critical thinking tools, geopolitical cyber issues, and security strategy development.

  • Advanced knowledge of cyber-criminal networks, functions and TTPs.  Knowledge on building threat profiles and threat intelligence products.

  • Knowledge of the cyber threat intelligence process; collection, analysis, production and distribution and how CTI fits into a comprehensive Security enterprise. 

  • Subject matter expertise with common operating system internals, network CTI and network discovery tools such as SPLUNK.

  • Application of CTI visualization platforms and how they fit in Cyber Security operations centers, CTI teams and Hunt teams.

  • Advanced knowledge of a cyber threat intelligence platform or feed and how it integrates into a comprehensive security enterprise.

  • Knowledge of application of the diamond and kill chain or related cyber threat models in critical thinking, planning and application of CTI.

  • Advanced knowledge of assessing system security requirements based on risks to confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA Triad) by selecting an appropriate security control baseline, applying and validating security control implementation, performing security assessments, and maintaining security posture by prioritizing vulnerabilities for remediation. 

  • Working knowledge of CTI relationship with advanced security practices, incident handling and response. 

  • Advanced knowledge of various IPS, IDS, and SEIM platforms.   

  • Additional industry certifications from Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, EC-Council, SANS etc. are preferred.
