The Career Services team at Flatiron School is responsible for ensuring our graduates have the support necessary to be successful in the job search process after graduation. Getting a job can be hard, so we support students every step of the way. Working together with our students, our Career Services team has produced incredible results: a 97% placement rate for job-seeking students.


The Manager, Coaching Training role is best suited for an energetic and passionate leader responsible for designing, developing, and delivering career coaching training programs and initiatives for our team as well as overseeing the onboarding and development of new career coaches and career coaching managers. 


As Flatiron School continues to experience hyper-growth – having already doubled the size of the career coaching team from 30 to over 60 team members in 6 months – the Manager, Coaching Training will be building processes that work well for our current size and scope, as well as for a future with many more coaching team members, students, programs, and staff.


The Manager, Coaching Training will:


  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate training programs that improve performance of career coaches and coaching managers to drive the achievement of the teams’ KPIs

  • Own the overall creation and management of training systems, knowledge management content, and support materials

  • Establish metrics that measure the performance and success of ongoing training programs to identify points of improvement and develop solutions that improve the effectiveness of training programs

  • Conduct the tracking and reporting of the progress for all on-going training programs

  • Ensure that there is consistency in the quality of training programs, initiatives, and materials launched by the department

  • Drive innovative training program development through the facilitation of online resources, training toolkits, and mentorship programs

  • Works closely with the Director of Career Coaching and Coaching Managers in developing training activities unique to each coaching teams’ squad and market

  • Have the foresight to forecast and plan 12 to 18 months out to ensure program development scales with the growth of the team

  • Align with the Legal, Compliance, and People Operations teams to build compliance training and keep employees and leadership aware of best practices and relevant legislation

  • Lead training sessions and ensure mastery of execution of training programs by assessing and providing feedback to coaches and coaching managers on the effectiveness of their delivery

  • Stay up-to-date with current training practices, training methods, learning tools, and learning deployment technologies


A successful Manager, Coaching Training has/is:


  • At least 5 years working experience in a training and development capacity

  • Experience in organizational development coupled with excellent proven facilitation skills

  • Experience building content from scratch leveraging pedagogical best practices with knowledge of instructional design and mixed media 

  • Developed successful coaching training programs that have led to performance improvement

  • Exceptional communication skills both in written and in verbal form to support clear instruction

  • Creating clear and easy-to-understand training materials that are engaging, actionable, and measurable

  • Presenting clear, concise, understandable, and convincing reports on the effectiveness of training programs and initiatives

  • Experience working with G-Suite, Google Sites, Zoom, YouTube, among other content creation and hosting platforms

  • Proven analytical skills, capable of gathering, conducting and evaluating analyses of program performance to identify points of improvement while developing clear and compelling solutions and strategies from the findings

  • Working well within a group setting, committed and taking a personal sense of responsibility for group performance

  • Handling multiple simultaneous projects, and has a strong work ethic working under minimal supervision

  • Self-motivated, a strategic and creative thinker highly proficient in project planning, and has an ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines with calmness

  • An ability to form strong relationships with others, winning over their trust, being highly approachable

  • Tactical, resourceful, and knows how to get things done quickly and efficiently
