Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our team in the field of protein science for vaccine development. As a Research Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting our research efforts to advance the development of novel vaccines and immune enhancing formulations.
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory experiments to support the expression, purification, and characterization of novel vaccine antigens
- Perform mammalian cell culture and transient transfection of plasmid DNA into cells
- Use column chromatography to purify proteins of interest from cell culture supernatants
- Perform biophysical characterization of purified proteins using various instruments and techniques to assess structure, stability, and function
- Collaborate with other members of the research team to design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and contribute to scientific presentations
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental protocols, data analysis, and research findings
- Manage and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biology, or related field with 1-2 years of experience
- Theoretical knowledge of protein structure, function, and chemistry
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, including solid aseptic technique
- Experience with protein expression and purification
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with effective oral and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with limited supervision
- Familiarity with an electronic lab notebook (e.g. Benchling), GraphPad Prism, Empower, or Unicorn software is a plus
- Experience with HPLC, UPLC, and FPLC systems is a plus
- Experience with analytical SEC, DSF, and SDS-PAGE is a plus
