What if…we could harness the power of multiple Flagship platforms and create novel treatment options that benefit more patients, sooner?

Pioneering Medicines (PM) is focused on conceiving and developing a unique portfolio of life-changing treatments for patients by leveraging the innovative scientific platforms and technologies within the ecosystem of Flagship Pioneering companies. Each of our medicines programs leverages one of Flagship’s bioplatforms.

More than 40 companies across the Flagship ecosystem are creating and applying innovative approaches to help address major health and sustainability issues. Given the broad applicability of many Flagship platforms, there is a tremendous opportunity to expand the reach of these scientific innovations by creating medicines in disease areas where the companies are not focused. With access to these Flagship companies, PM is well positioned to conceive new medicine ideas both internally and to co-create new medicines in collaboration with our strategic partners.  We also have the unique ability to combine these platforms, harnessing the power of multiple Flagship scientific innovations to create truly novel medicines.

By identifying and pursuing opportunities earlier than the platform companies could focus on them and advancing these medicines through a robust discovery and early clinical development capability, PM can reach patients across more disease areas much sooner than the individual platform companies could on their own.

PM at a Glance:

  • 11 ongoing programs (discovery through early clinical stages), leveraging novel Flagship bioplatforms
  • Highly experienced and successful R&D leadership team
  • 90+ team members
  • 55,000 sq. ft. Lab/Office Space in Cambridge, MA
  • 3 ongoing Strategic Partnerships
  • Pfizer/Flagship Alliance: co-create 10 single-asset programs within Pfizer’s core strategic areas of interest; PM manages Alliance, drives exploration process, and is responsible for R&D strategy and activities through Phase 1 or Phase 2
  • Novo Nordisk: committed to 3-5 research programs within the first 3 years of the collaboration; focus is obesity and other cardiometabolic diseases
  • Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: committed up to $110M to bring forward novel treatments for patients using two different nucleic acid technologies
