About The Role

At Apriori Bio, we have built our unique technology platform Octavia^TM to help survey viral landscapes and improve vaccine design towards increased efficacy and breadth. This role will serve as a critical part of this effort, sitting on the Informatics & Data Engineering team that builds our platform’s digital backbone. You will partner with our wet-lab scientists as well as our broader computational team to harden parts of our platform and integrate the results & insights generated to help inform decision-makers and advance our products. You will provide your expertise to enable efficient design of our technological stack and implement these schema in our growing data warehouse. You will understand the processes within the lab that underly our platform and provide modifications and improvements to our digital systems to better represent the data being generated.

Core Responsibilities

• Exploring and analyzing existing data being generated from our high-throughput assays supporting our unique technology platform Octavia^TM, delivering high-quality results to key internal stakeholders
• Creating static and interactive data visualizations to communicate insights to program managers and company leadership
• Maintaining an understanding of Apriori Bio’s data ecosystem in totality, including entry methods, quality control, consumption patterns, and planned infrastructure improvements
• Automate existing workflows, building the critical data infrastructure that helps run Apriori’s platform and product pipeline
• Being the go-to partner for data-driven decision-making across the company
• Preparing graphs & data-driven content for internal and external presentations

Qualifications and Skills

• Graduate degree in the life sciences or quantitative field with experience with in vitro and in vivo assays
• Extensive coursework or experience with statistical modeling and hypothesis testing to inform experimental design and analysis methods. Adept at examining significant differences among measurements.
• Highly competent writing production-level code in Python & SQL  
• Experience collaboratively coding and contributing to live codebases using git
• 2+ years experience in exploratory data analysis
• 2+ years visualizing data using tools like ggplot, seaborn, Shiny, Plotly, Spotfire, or Tableau
• Competency with shell computing and cloud platforms, specifically AWS
• Comfort working in highly collaborative, fast-paced, and matrixed teams
• Excellent communication skills, specifically regarding requirements gathering and data storytelling
• Preference with previous experience in workflow orchestration, such as using {meta, next, air} flow frameworks

The preferred candidate will ideally also possess the following skills:

• Preference for experience handling data from high-throughput NGS assays & employing state-of-the-art bioinformatic tools
• Preference for a candidate with high-performance computing experience
• Knowledge of anomaly detection methods, structural biology visualizations, and data modeling
• Familiarity with cloud native tools such as AWS s3, glue, batch, and ec2
• Familiarity with concepts in DevOps, change management, and technical documentation
• Communicates multi-modally, e.g. interactive web pages and Jupyter notebooks, PowerPoint, Teams, verbally, prose
