Position Summary:

We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic and self-motivated Contracts Manager who is comfortable multitasking and working independently on various aspects of the platform. This individual will join a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team.

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Contracts, the Contracts Manager will be responsible for the administration of the company’s Contract Management System (CMS) and the management of several agreements relating, but not limited to, external activities associated with Tessera’s research and development efforts, such as confidential disclosure, consulting, outsourced services, material transfer, sponsored research, collaborations, and licenses.

The successful candidate will manage the contracting process, including managing Tessera’s CMS, library of contract templates, contracts’ dashboard using Smartsheets, intake of contract requests, provide updates on the status of contract requests to internal and external parties and managing the contract signature process with internal and external parties. The Contracts Manager will also be responsible for drafting  agreements using legal templates, help negotiate terms and conditions with for-profit and non-profit groups (CROs, academic laboratories, etc.), produce progress reports for internal clients, coordinate the final approval of the agreements, and create and maintain a contract tracking and compliance system. The successful candidate will work closely with the Tessera research, legal, corporate compliance, procurement, and accounting/finance departments, and with external parties. This position will require detailed work under tight timelines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage key contract data for Tessera, such as contract’s expiration, reporting deadlines, and the like
  • Drafting and negotiation of various agreements using legal templates
  • Keep updated files and prepare reports as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of professional experience
  • Significant experience with contract administration and management processes, procedures, and software
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with standard office software applications (MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work well independently and with others
  • Effective cross-disciplinary communication skills and an eagerness to creatively engage the Tessera legal team, scientists, and business leaders to fully understand complex issues and craft innovative solutions
  • The intellectual curiosity and drive to offer comprehensive solutions to the team, consisting of Scientists, Finance, and Legal representatives, etc., to ensure the successful organization of our research agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience with managing contracts from intake to execution under strict timelines
  • Proven track record of building relationships with cross functional stakeholders, internal and external
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing a contract management software is a plus
