Position Summary:
FL94 is seeking an experienced, creative, and talented Senior Scientist of compound management and characterization to join our research team. In this role you will be operating at a critical node between internal and external compound logistics, formatting, data generation and management, discovery chemistry and biology, and compound properties assessments. Key to the success of the entire research organization is the establishment of robust and rapid compound management processes to impact programs at all points of the discovery continuum.
Successful candidates will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, action-oriented, team environment and display a clear passion for science and impact. The individual will have demonstrated evidence of technical expertise and experience overcoming challenges and moving projects forward with urgency. Experience guiding junior scientists technically and strategically will be important. They will be interested in from the lab and be dedicated to scientific development of themselves and their team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement hardware and software to build a current state of the art compound management based on the SPT Labtech comPOUND platform
- Establish optimal workflows (processes and automation) to expedite compound formatting and availability to internal customers
- Coordinate with internal and external chemistry to ensure timely entries into internal workflows
- Generate high quality compound characterization data (e.g., solubility, chromeLogD…) for ML encoding and therapeutic discovery
- Operate as the functional program/department lead across multiple domains of program leadership and management
- Ensure rapid and accurate turnaround of data, to agreed timelines, to drive achievement of key project goals
- Translate experimental data into meaningful insights and present the analyzed data in team meetings
Qualifications:
- PhD in with 3+ years practical experience or BS with 7+ years’ experience in pharma-grade small molecule drug discovery with strong background in chemistry and/or biochemistry.
- Hands on experience with modern automation hardware specific to compound formatting and assay execution
- Experience with compound registration, assay data management… with preference for Dotmatics-based platforms
- Experience with plate-based assays for compound properties characterization a preferred but not required skill set for all applicants
- Ability to engage and perform in a multifunctional environment as a leader by example, reliable teammate, and a can-do attitude.
- Clear communicator using various mediums (direct communication, team presentation…) that inspires teammates and raises the bar on innovation, creativity, and a sense of urgency
