Position Summary:
You will be joining the External Innovation group within the Corporate Development team at Tessera Therapeutics. This group seeks external relationships, including existing technologies and co-development opportunities, to augment Tessera’s internal R&D efforts, in addition to working with the Corporate Development team to support Tessera’s BD initiatives. You will be performing due diligence, literature search/analyses, and supporting our licensing initiatives. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to interact with a dynamic scientific team to perform your analyses and assessments. This position is uniquely suited for a candidate who is interested in bringing a deeply scientific approach to business development.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to:
- Develop a deep understanding of Tessera’s interests, motivations, and platforms to identify external, complementary opportunities.
- Read and analyze scientific literature in diverse scientific fields such as genome editing, biomolecule delivery, transposable elements, and beyond to seek seemingly unrelated discoveries in natural biology that could be harnessed for Gene Writing technologies.
- Build and maintain a landscape of emerging technologies that align with Tessera’s short- and long-term enterprise goals.
- Collaborate with the BD team to perform deep scientific and technical diligence to guide BD initiatives.
- Build, collate, and organize external technology databases.
- Communicate key findings and analyses to the BD team, as well as to relevant members of the Tessera community.
- Manage and prioritize projects to align with External Innovation goals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with an interest in genetic medicine, business development, and biotechnology
- At least two years of an undergraduate education completed
- Familiarity with molecular biology
- Familiarity and interest in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
- Preference for candidates with interest or experience in IP or technology transfer
- The ability to provide and present analytical insights on complex topics
- The ability to communicate concisely and effectively
