Director, Head of DMPK
Vesalius Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Head/Director of DMPK to join our growing team. As the Head/Director of DMPK, you will be an essential part of an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals responsible for developing and optimizing novel small molecule drug candidates.
This position will be an active member of the drug discovery team reporting to the Senior Vice President of Drug Discovery with the goal of discovering new small molecule drug candidates and assisting with small molecule optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Play a functional leadership role on Vesalius project teams, both directly and indirectly, in shaping goals and deliverables in evaluating development candidates related to ADME, PK, PK/PD, drug-drug interaction, human PK and dose projection. Clear communication and build alignment with relevant functional areas to accomplish goals
- Provide in-depth scientific expertise and technical leadership as well as resource and relationship management of external networks
- Design and execute preclinical studies to understand the pharmacokinetics and absorption, metabolism, distribution, and excretion for small molecule programs
- Lead human dose prediction effort by providing input into the design of preclinical studies to investigate exposure and pharmacodynamic responses.
- Responsible for the analysis, interpretation, integration, and reporting of preclinical DMPK data generated both internally and with external vendors
- Participate in the selection and management of CROs for the conduct of in vivo ADME studies.
- Experience with in vivo ADME studies up to and including human mass balance studies.
- Author high quality Regulatory documents including INDs, CTAs and NDA filings. Partner with and support Toxicology, Research, Clinical, Regulatory, Project Management and other departments
Qualifications:
- PhD in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics or other relevant field with 7+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with a proven record of drug development experience.
- Strong knowledge of drug metabolism, ADME concepts, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamic and bioanalytical principles is required.
- Knowledge and experience in a wide range of drug development concepts and activities. Up to date knowledge on regulatory guidance related to ADME/PK characterization, drug-drug interaction, and human ADME study
- Demonstrated ability in working with highly skilled teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and technical environment
- Strong management experience and success in developing a scientific team and program
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency and creativity and focus on deliverables.
- Team player with a strong work ethic, able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Continuously learns and adapts quickly to new information
- Authentic, proactively appreciative of different points of view, backgrounds and perspectives
