Position Summary:

The Intern will be responsible for supporting the team through execution of various molecular and cellular biology protocols. This individual will join a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team that combines significant biologic drug discovery experience with pioneering discoveries driving a novel biological platform. The student will receive close mentoring from a top tier scientific team to perform various molecular and cell biology techniques. The intern will join group’s effort to carry out studies to apply Gene Rewriter technology in vivo to cure genetic diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to:

  • Culture mammalian culture cell lines and primary cells
  • Perform transfection of nucleic acids
  • Perform molecular biology assays and techniques, including Western Blot, ELISA, PCR and qRT-PCR
  • Process and homogenize animal cells and tissue for the isolation of proteins and/or nucleic acids
  • Maintain thorough and detailed electronic lab notebooks and documentation records
  • Organize, summarize, and present data to researchers within project teams and department
  • Assist in organization of samples, test material, and reagents related to the team’s research

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with an interest genetic medicine, therapeutic delivery of nucleic acids, and/or translational sciences
  • At least two years of an undergraduate education completed within a Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
  • Familiarity with molecular biology (western blot & PCR) and cell culture
  • Ability to work safely and independently in an R&D laboratory environment
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and troubleshoot
  • Quick and engaged learner, independent thinker
  • Enthusiasm and excitement for the pursuit of cutting-edge science

Preferred Qualifications but NOT required:

    • Previous co/op experience (5-6 months)
    • Experience with mammalian cell culture
    • Experience handling lipid nanoparticles
    • Experience with processing tissue samples
    • Experience/understanding of current gene editing technologies
