Position Summary:

Tessera Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated bioanalytical scientist with a strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry to fulfill a Scientist role in our DMPK group. The candidate will be responsible for developing and employing DMPK assays to characterize and quantitate RNAs to support research, non-clinical, and clinical development programs for a variety of therapeutic indications. The ideal candidate must have excellent new assay development skills and is willing to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop RT-qPCR, branched DNA and other molecular biology or biochemical assays for characterization and quantitation of RNA in various biological matrices including biofluids, tissues, cells, and subcellular fractions.
  • Design and execute experiments from sample preparation, RT-qPCR, and other assays to data analysis & interpretation.
  • Coordinate method transfer to CRO and serve as technical expert for method trouble shooting.
  • Write method protocols, sample analysis procedures. Prepare bioanalytical study reports and data presentations.
  • Contribute to study reports to be submitted to regulatory agency for drug candidate advancement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD or MS degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related disciplines, e.g., Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical Science, with 0-3 (PhD) or 7+ years (MS) post-graduate experience. Industrial (biotech, pharmaceutical, and/or CROs) experience is preferred.
  • Experience in assay development and troubleshooting is required.
  • Hands-on experience in RNA extraction from in vivo samples such as plasma or tissue is essential.
  • In-depth scientific knowledge and hands on technical expertise in molecular biology assays, biochemical assays are required.
  • Previous experience in LC-MS bioanalysis is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct multiple laboratory and project tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with flexibility.
