Vesalius Therapeutics is seeking a Director of Statistical Genetics to join our effort to reveal biological mechanisms of health and disease. You will report to the VP, Informatics and Data Science and lead the design and analysis of innovative approaches to combine human genetic data with internally and externally generated genomic data to generate therapeutic hypotheses. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team with computational biologists, biomedical informaticists, machine learning scientists, and wet-lab biologists to reveal mechanistic insights into disease processes and patient stratification.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead cross-functional, matrixed project teams responsible for generating hypotheses about complex disease processes in collaboration with leaders in Discovery Biology
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise and leadership in statistical genetics, post-GWAS analysis and interpretation, and disease hypothesis generation
  • Lead internal efforts to develop innovative new approaches to analyze human genetic data generate testable hypotheses about disease mechanisms
  • Build a highly skilled, dynamic team that will drive innovation in our discovery platform

What You’ll Bring:

  • PhD in Human Genetics, Statistics, Physics, Bioinformatics, Computational biology, or related fields
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in quantitative genetics, population genetics, statistical genetics, medical genetics, and post-GWAS analysis
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams of highly skilled scientists to generate testable therapeutic hypotheses using human genetic and genomic data
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to both technical and non-technical colleagues
