Position Summary:

FL69 is seeking an innovative and highly motivated research associate/senior research associate with expertise in computational biology and data science to play a vital role in the company’s efforts to discover new therapies. This individual will contribute scientific and computational expertise to a multidisciplinary team, emphasizing conceptualization, experimentation, data analysis, and data visualization. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in computational biology/data science and be enthusiastic and capable of working in a multidisciplinary team in the biosciences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to design, plan and execute computational analyses that support ongoing research and development
  • Serve as a key contributor in the development of computational pipelines used to identify new therapeutics
  • Plan and execute computational analyses and communicate results to scientific team and executive management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS, or BS with 1+ years of industry experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or related fields
  • Prior industry or academic research experience, especially in computational biology, bioinformatics software engineering or data science
  • Good background knowledge cellular and molecular biology
  • Proficiency in Python or R, including familiarity with plotting/data visualization libraries
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to convey technical information in a clear and thorough manner
  • Good documentation habits

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unix, especially in cloud/cluster environments
  • Machine learning and/or data science experience
  • Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing or proteomic datasets
  • Experience in protein biology
  • Experience with reproducible computational research (version control, documentation, etc)
  • Strong collaborative skills with evidence of working in a team
  • Confident execution, focus, and an ability to thrive in a team-oriented entrepreneurial environment
