Flagship Labs 72, Inc. (FL72) is a well-funded, early stage biotechnology company founded by Flagship Pioneering that is pioneering a novel immune therapeutic platform. FL72 was founded through Flagship’s venture creation engine, where companies such as Moderna Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MRNA), Rubius Therapeutics (NASDAQ: RUBY), and Editas Medicines (NASDAQ: EDIT) were conceived and created. Since Flagship’s founding in 2000, the firm has originated and fostered the development of nearly 100 scientific ventures resulting in $20+ billion in aggregate value, 500+ issued patents, and more than 50 clinical trials for novel therapeutic agents.
Flagship Labs 72 (FL72) is seeking a broadly trained expert in establishing, interrogating, and interpreting a wide swathe of animal models of disease, ranging from oncological to gastrointestinal and back. Their expertise and insights will play a vital part in our fast-to-clinic strategy, and as well drive mastery of our novel therapeutic platform in collaboration with other world class scientists and experts driven by impact.
You’ll be pioneering with us all along the way, so we’re looking for someone who has truly mastered the basics in how animal models of disease are established, how they are interpreted, what their limits are, and how to creatively leverage them. You’re a pragmatic scientist who understands how to balance between mechanistic and phenotypic relevance. You’ve demonstrated subject matter expertise in at least one disease area and are curious to extend that experience into human diseases more broadly.
Let’s face it – disease model experts often discover their talent along the way, so we have a completely open mind about the training origin of your excellence. We welcome those with an unusual background or unconventional career path who have shown consistently good judgement about translational challenges and questions.
Postgraduate degree in veterinary or medical sciences together with scientific curiosity that’s been put to use towards unraveling the determinants of complex diseases. A PhD, MD or equivalent is helpful but not required.
Strong experience working with the different types of evidence used to demonstrate disease effect and disease management, and can leverage those creatively to reveal therapeutic benefits
Understanding of qualitative differences in evidence required to progress in small molecule, biologics, and vaccine domains
A humble learner and an aggressive do-er
Someone that values true data driven decision making, and understands how to speculate around uncertainty
Flagship Pioneering is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
