Flagship Labs 72, Inc. (FL72) is a well-funded, early stage biotechnology company founded by Flagship Pioneering that is pioneering a novel immune therapeutic platform. FL72 was founded through Flagship’s venture creation engine, where companies such as Moderna Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MRNA), Rubius Therapeutics (NASDAQ: RUBY), and Editas Medicines (NASDAQ: EDIT) were conceived and created. Since Flagship’s founding in 2000, the firm has originated and fostered the development of nearly 100 scientific ventures resulting in $20+ billion in aggregate value, 500+ issued patents, and more than 50 clinical trials for novel therapeutic agents.
Flagship Labs 72 (FL72) is seeking a creative, broadly trained expert in protein engineering to architect and optimize our novel therapeutic modality and platform. Our fast-to-clinic strategy will give you unparalleled access to the most relevant data to inform your next generation designs and platform optimizations. Your depth of knowledge will ensure that these scientific insights translate into lifesaving medicines at a pace you’ve longed for, and in collaboration with other world class scientists and experts driven by impact.
You’ll be pioneering with us all along the way, so we’re looking for someone who has truly mastered the basics of protein biophysics and engineering. Your battle tested bag of tricks is constantly being replenished in a fast-moving field, and your responsibility will be to push the performance envelope with computational and laboratory collaborations.
Because we’re developing a new therapeutic platform and with a fast-to-clinic strategy, we need someone who has demonstrated high-quality judgement and clarity of thinking under pressure. Your judgement will be vital in ensuring that we are able to address multiple therapeutic targets in parallel, and that we’re positioned to iterate rapidly.
Our ideal candidate has significant experience in the production of proteins for therapeutics at scale, such as for biologics or recombinant vaccines, and finds a way to systematize their hard-won instincts with their colleagues.
A proven expert and likely has substantial postgraduate scientific training in protein biochemistry or protein physics or similar subject areas
Someone with significant experience in bioprocess R&D and understands major tradeoffs between in-house development and outsourcing requirements
A humble learner and an aggressive do-er
Someone that values true data driven decision making, and understands how to speculate around uncertainty
