Position Summary:

We are building a new unit for high-throughput cell screening using iPSCs and iPSC-derived hepatocytes. The scientist will be responsible for tissue culture and quality control for iPSCs and hepatocyte differentiation. This individual will design experiments, run assays, including but not limited to PCR, immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who has strong organization skills and pays attention to details. This individual will join a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to:

  • Culture and conduct quality control for iPSCs
  • Differentiate, maintain, and benchmark iPSC-derived hepatocytes
  • Run assays, including but not limited to PCR, immunocytochemistry/high content imaging, and flow cytometry
  • Make detailed observations, analyze data, and make logical and data-driven conclusions
  • Keep good records of experiments and cell line inventory
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses
  • Collaborate with various groups and present data at meetings

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in cell biology or related fields.
  • Experience with culturing human iPSCs/ESCs
  • Excellent troubleshooting and capability, attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent organization, record-keeping, and time management skills
  • Team oriented and self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with differentiating human iPSCs/ESCs into any cell type
  • Experience with differentiating human iPSCs/ESCs into hepatocytes is highly desirable
  • Past experience with tissue culture automation and/or flow cytometry
