Position Summary:
FL69 is seeking a strong Computational Biologist to be a key contributor on its computational biology team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in human genetics and multi-omics data analysis, has experience in both developing new methodologies and establishing bioinformatics pipelines, and thrives in an interdisciplinary team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pioneer novel approaches to infer protein function from multi-omic data via network biology, machine learning, and other methodologies
- Develop novel NGS analysis methods and contribute to existing pipelines; analyze public and in-house NGS datasets
- Create innovative data visualizations and communicate complex results to interdisciplinary audiences
- Ensure computational work is documented and reproducible
- Work in a highly dynamic startup environment with an interdisciplinary team
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD or MS with multiple years industry experience or equivalent in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or related field
- Proficient in at least one programming language
- Experience with NGS data analysis
- Demonstrated ability in working with highly skilled, diverse teams in an industry environment
- Demonstrated industry experience or academic achievement, as evidenced by publications in high impact journals, conference proceedings, or widely used codebase
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner
- Familiarity with version control and a commitment to reproducible computational research
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and understanding of translation biology and RiboSeq/ribosome profiling
- Experience with RNA-seq data analysis, including differential expression and transcriptome assembly
- Experience with network biology/co-regulation approaches
- Experience with cloud computing
- Proficiency with Python and/or R
- Experience with pipeline development tools such as Nextflow, SnakeMake, or Cromwell
