Position Summary

Inzen Therapeutics offers the opportunity to work at an early stage, big concept biotechnology company.  We are seeking a Senior Research Associate who is ready to play a driving role in developing the Inzen screening platform.  As part of the Exploratory Biology group, this individual will contribute to identifying novel phenotypes and first-in-class drug concepts to treat serious diseases based on new insights into cellular turnover. 

The candidate will be an ambitious, accomplished scientist with a strong track record and hands-on expertise in cell-based assay development and phenotypic screening. (S)he will be responsible for working in an autonomous manner to optimize and execute phenotypic screens, design rigorous, quantitative experiments with appropriate controls and statistical parameters that enable robust scientific conclusions.  They will champion innovative scientific concepts, execute experimental plans, and create data packages that will lead to novel drug concepts.

We are looking for an individual with a track record of accomplishments in developing and executing innovative assays and methodologies.  S(he) should be a skilled scientist, innovative, and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Functional lead in implementing the Inzen “screening platform”
  • Develop and execute robust high and medium throughput cell-based assays that are quantitative and will enable phenotypic discovery.
  • Incorporate appropriate assay controls and statistical parameters to ensure data quality.
  • Work in an autonomous manner in both experimental design and data analysis of the respective cellular assays.
  • Collaborate with Inzen scientists across the various functional areas to adapt cellular readouts for the Inzen screening platform.
  • Coordinate and implement the appropriate infrastructure to enable the Inzen screening platform, including screening library design, automation & liquid handling, data analytics, etc.
  • Drive novel science by establishing new methods, assays and applications in the study of cellular turnover.
  • Deliver rigorous data packages and incisive analyses that inform and enable project progression.

Key Requirements

  • BS or MS (none-PhD) in Biology, Chemical biology, or Bio-engineering or related field. 
  • Candidates with 3+ years of industry experience in in vitro pharmacology and/ or HTS screening highly preferred.
  • Hands-on expertise in executing cell-based assays such as reporter gene assays, cell proliferation assays, FRET, luminescence, ELISA/ MSD/ Luminex, qPCR, etc.
  • Experience in determining potency of small molecules and/or biologics
  • Familiarity with 384 well assay development and automated liquid handling is considered a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working across a range of therapeutic areas including oncology, metabolic disease, renal disease, fibrosis and tissue degeneration.
  • Excellent communicator, with the ability to clearly convey complex messages to many audiences.
  • Confident, execution-focused, team-oriented.
