The Role:

We are looking for our first designer for our Fivetran Design System team. You will help shape the future front-end experience of the Fivetran data pipeline platform for businesses large and small. Our ideal candidate has a balance of detail-oriented design skills, customer focus, and strong ability to collaborate. We value those that hit the ground running, leading by example on projects and working well cross-functionally. You will be diving deep into our customer-facing experiences and applying your understanding of best practices to everyday product design decisions. 

As you talk with our team, your portfolio should contain case studies that demonstrate strong storytelling skills, use of effective design methodologies, and clear results of your previous work.

What you’ll do:

  • Create a compelling design vision for our Fivetran Design System, collaborating with other Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers who are also passionate about user experience.
  • Facilitate requirements discussions and reviews with stakeholders and create alignment on design solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the user experience and champion your ideas within Design and across the company.
  • Approach designs from a realistic, implementable perspective by developing patterns and processes that get adopted by others.
  • Partner with our Brand Studio team to ensure the right voice and tone is reflected in our system. 
  • Become an expert on the end-to-end customer experience, performing research with users of the product and internal subject matter experts.
  • Mentor Designers within Fivetran’s Product Design team on best practices.

What you’ll need:   

  • You effectively partner with others on customer research, customer validation, concept design, design systems, usability testing, and other modern design practices.
  • A strong portfolio featuring examples of your work, your design process, and the results.
  • Heavy focus on details with an eye for pixel perfection. 
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated with a bias toward action – there’s tons of greenfield opportunity here, and you’ll need to lean into the ambiguity and lead projects to completion.
  • Ability to craft engaging presentations with engrossing stories that influence your peer stakeholders.
  • You are driven by a deep understanding of how products get used, concept validation, contextual inquiry, and usability testing.
  • Excitement for the chance to shape the design culture at a growing company and to inspire people with your unique perspective.

Nice to have:

  • Front-end coding capability.
  • Experience working in big data, AI, or data analytics.
  • Experience independently partnering with design operations and front-end eng organizations.
  • A desire to have fun while building a great product!
