The Role

Fivetran is looking for a Controller to join our Finance team to support the growth of our accounting team and the company. As a Controller, you will be responsible for the accounting and financial operations activities of the company. You will be responsible for overseeing accounting activities including month end close and global consolidation, tax compliance, and internal controls, and will help build Fivetran’s financial processes, internal controls, reporting, and systems.

As the Controller, you will:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes and the preparation of internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Lead the company’s activities with external auditors and manage internal controls
  • Manage technical accounting, including staying current with the latest GAAP pronouncements, writing of memos, and implementing new FASB Statements
  • Develop and drive the adoption of common processes and systems across the company
  • Develop and maintain internal controls appropriate for GAAP financial reporting
  • Work cross functionally with various teams to automate all manual accounting processes and reports; ensuring efficient and accurate flow of information between teams
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team to develop accrual procedures and provide insights of the financial results and close status
  • Assist in preparing and/or updating financial and accounting policies as needed and assist in the application and adherence to those policies
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting filings (international entities) and various tax filings (domestic and international entities)
  • Design best in class accounting processes to help Fivetran scale
  • Build and manage a detailed monthly reporting package to present to the executive team
  • Review all processes owned or impacted by accounting and establish or improve upon formal written processes/policies
  • Manage the AR, AP, and payroll processes
  • Build, manage and mentor world class accounting staff

What you’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Relevant professional experience with proven working experience as a Controller or Director of Accounting
  • Active CPA
  • Experience in NetSuite or equivalent ERP system
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Google Suite
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules and regulations and reporting requirements
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills; ability to interface and communicate effectively with executive management and other functions within the organization
  • Experience managing relationships with external auditors
  • A proven track record of process improvement and experience with financial systems and process change initiatives
  • Ability to work independently and build working relationships across global teams
