The Senior CNC Specialist works closely with teams located in both the US and Asia throughout the design cycle. As a member of the PD team, you will be responsible for developing CNC through working with Mechanical Process Engineer, Product Designer, Supplier Quality Management, Industrial Design, CMF and Sourcing team, you will be also responsible provide technical support to the CNC application at our suppliers.

In addition, you will work closely with the Program team on giving timely feedback of technical risk, and continuous communication of the status of engineering issues throughout the product development cycle to a cross functional audience. You will be the primary contact window for CNC technical issue resolution across the mechanical supply base.

The Role:

  • Analysis the 3D and 2D drawings, provide feedback to Product Designer to achieve robust design and efficient machining manufacturing solutions
  • Develop holding fixture concept using drawing datum features to locate the part and achieve the dimensional accuracy, implement the fixturing concept at suppliers
  • Work with PD and supplier for DFM review and approval
  • Develop in process quality control plan for critical features to be checked to mitigate the CNC related risk in mass production
  • Analyze CNC programs, CNC process steps to increase operating efficiency, optimize the process setup and cycle time that yields consistent qualify part
  • Develop and improve of the skills of CNC knowledge to the other team members through CNC related training, best practice sharing, or coaching
  • Drives CNC related process issues root cause analysis, corrective actions taken and verification at suppliers
  • Identify technical risks and define improvement plan
  • International and domestic travel as required to achieve product and technology development, including visits to supplier and US headquarters with 50% average

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CNC programming, a computer-related field or similar field required
  • + 8 Years of complex, precision metals machining (castings and forgings) experience, knowledge of machining fixture design and CNC machine setup
  • Ability to read and understand 2D drawings and GD&T drawings, and proficient use of precision measuring gages
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes at the shop floor level based on knowledge of cutting tool applications, knowledge of feed, speed, coolant selection, experience of using statistical tools, i.e. DOE, SPC
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work well in cross functional teams
  • Strong communication skills, good at English listening, written and verbal skills, ability to communicate effectively with all levels among internal staff, suppliers staff
  • Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize and balance multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of cost analysis, work simplification and value stream analysis
  • Advanced technical degree, able to use UG/Mastercam, or similar system for CNC program
  • Familiar with statistical analysis and processing tools such as Minitab
  • Knowledge of all phases of consumer electronics product development lifecycle
  • Familiar with plastic injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping process
  • Experience of plastic part machining applications
