The job


As a Finary Product Designer, you'll ensure our platform and its accompanying features are easy to use, aesthetically pleasing, and valuable for the Finary community. You'll utilize your full range of design skills across discovery research, testing & validation, information architecture, experience design, interaction design, and visual design - think full-stack design. 

Beyond raw design skill, we're looking for someone who can work creatively and efficiently - we iterate quickly here at Finary! As our first full-time design hire, you'll play a significant part in establishing scalable design practices early on and building a 10-star design culture.

This is an in-person role at our HQ in New York City. 


Plan, prioritize, and execute at every stage of the design lifecycle—wireframes, competitive analysis, user research, prototypes, usability tests, asset design, and high fidelity design

Take conceptual ideas, technical requirements, and **business **insights **and turn them into something valuable for our different user groups

Propose projects, plan the product roadmap, and contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of the Finary platform

Lead design reviews and sprints with a cross-functional team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

Refine and evolve our own design language


2+ years in UX, UI, or product design experience, building and shipping software/applications at the level of whole features & products

Fluency in Figma (our main tool), Sketch, and/or other design tools

User research: Experience in user interviews, usability testing, and using prototyping to demonstrate and validate how a particular flow or interaction will work. Bonus points for fluency in quantitative research

Visual design: Proficiency in typography, desktop/web/mobile UI, color, layout, iconography and aesthetic sense

Ability to clearly communicate to the broader product team and other leaders, and to succinctly articulate goals and concepts

Experience working in a quick & hands-on work environment to rapidly iterate, produce multiple concepts, and absorb sudden changes

Nice to have

Experience in building, growing, and managing a design system

Experience working on teams building consumer, fintech, or social media products

Strong prototyping skill using tools like Principle, After Effects, Framer to rapidly test and iterate more complex experiences

Examples of taking personal initiative to define the direction or scope of a product

Examples of leadership in non-product dimensions that have made a team stronger and positively impacted the work environment
