About the role: 

FEV Tutor is seeking a People Partner to help build and scale results-driven teams and a world-class people operations function, joining us in our mission to solve the equity gap in educational attainment across the United States.  This position plays a crucial role in aligning people strategies with overall business objectives, focused on supporting product, technology & engineering leaders and teams. The People Partner will also play a key role in the creation and management of total rewards and leave management programs. They will also serve as a resource and partner to the people team, as well as leaders and colleagues across the organization, in the development, implementation and support of a variety of streamlined people processes that deliver a positive employee experience. 

What You’ll do:

  • HR Business Partner:  Partner with leaders and managers across FEV to drive business and people strategy, with a focus on product, technology and engineering teams. Work with the people operations team to create and oversee programs and processes that support and empower leaders to deliver results and develop people. 
    • Employee Relations: Resolve people-related inquiries, providing guidance and support on HR policies, procedures, and programs including benefits. Resolve employee requests and escalate complex issues. 
    • Policy and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations. Assist in developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures. Stay updated on changes in labor laws and employment practices.
    • HR Systems and Reporting: Assist in managing Paylocity (HR Information System) and other HR systems. Generate and analyze HR reports and dashboards, such as headcount, turnover, and recruitment metrics, to support HR decision-making.
    • Performance Management: Support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance appraisals, and performance improvement plans. 
    • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within people operations. Recommend and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with Finance and IT teams.
  • Total Rewards: Work with the people team to develop and support a total rewards strategy. Plays a key role in shaping and managing the total rewards framework to  attract and retain top talent and drive overall satisfaction for our colleagues. 
    • Compensation Management: Help design, implement, and manage competitive and equitable compensation structures as part of FEV’s compensation philosophy. Assist with the development, delivery and administration of incentive compensation plans, bonus programs, and salary banding/leveling. Support the annual compensation merit increase and bonus payout processes. Conduct regular market analysis to ensure the organization's compensation packages remain attractive and aligned with industry standards.
    • Benefits Administration: Collaborate with the people team in the design and implementation of benefits programs. Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs, including health, wellness, and retirement plans. Partner with external vendors to optimize benefits offerings and ensure cost-effectiveness.
    • Professional Development: Assist with the development, implementation, and management of design, implement, and manage professional development programs that align with the company's goals and support individual career growth.
    • Employee Engagement and Culture: Support employee engagement initiatives, such as organizing events, surveys, and recognition programs. Contribute to fostering a positive work culture and supporting employee well-being.
    • Leaves of Absence: Create employee leave programs to ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations. This role involves coordinating with various departments, the people team and colleagues to facilitate smooth leave processes.
  • In addition to these responsibilities, collaborate with other people operations team members on various HR projects and initiatives, ensuring effective service delivery throughout the organization. 

What You’ll Need:

Education and Experience

    • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, or a related field is preferred. 
    • 3-5 years in an HR generalist or people operations role, 2 years in an HRBP role supporting technology, product and engineering teams and 2 years of total rewards focus required. 
    • Equivalent work experience will be considered in place of a degree.
    • SHRM or PHR certification is a huge plus! 

Foundational HRBP Experience & Expertise

    • Solid understanding of human resources principles, practices, and employment law. 
    • Demonstrated expertise in developing and administering total rewards and leave management programs. 
    • Experience supporting technology leaders and colleagues. 

HR Systems and Tools

    • Proficiency in using Human Capital Management tools (HCM), applicant tracking systems (ATS), and other HR-related software and tools required. 
    • Experience with Paylocity and implementation is highly desirable. 

Communication Skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication, well developed active listening, and EQ skills are essential. 
    • Ability to communicate effectively across diverse internal and external partners
