Who you are:

FEV Tutor is seeking a highly detailed and organized accounting professional with deep foundational US accounting knowledge and experience working in high growth, PE backed environments. Vision driven and results oriented, with an interest in joining FEV in our mission to solve for the educational gap in K12 education in the US, you will be hands-on, highly collaborative, and able to work independently in a remote, fast paced environment.

About the role:

The Senior Accountant at FEV Tutor is responsible for maintaining the general ledger in compliance with US GAAP and preparing monthly financial statements for the U.S. operating entity.  In addition, the position will be responsible for maintaining federal and state tax and regulatory compliance. Working collaboratively with internal teams you will also oversee the company expense management program and accounts payable and review prepared payroll.

What You’ll do:

  • Maintain balance sheet schedules for all material balance sheet accounts, and reconcile the balance sheet to the supporting schedules monthly.
  • Complete month end close activities (general journal entries, expense accruals, prepaid amortization, etc.) and final statements, including budget to actual reconciliation with commentary for material variances.
  • Review all general ledger accounts regularly to ensure proper coding of transactions.
  • Review and approve monthly customer billing and process accounts payable weekly.
  • Confirm proper approvals prior to authorizing payment.
  • Maintain an accurate vendor contract database, including W-9s.
  • Manage the company’s RAMP credit card program.
    • Verify that all transactions are properly coded, meet purchasing guidelines, and have the required support and approval prior to approving for payment.
    • Follow up with cardholders and managers for any transactions that do not have proper support or do not follow company purchasing guidelines.
    • Ensure that payments are processed through RAMP in time to receive the maximum vendor discount.
    • Sync transactions to NetSuite on a regular basis.
    • Reconcile RAMP statement monthly.
  • Review bi-weekly payroll prepared by People Operations.  Enter payroll journal entry into NetSuite.
  • Maintain daily cash dashboard and rolling 13 week cash forecast.
  • Process annual vendor 1099s.
  • Assist CFO and Corporate Controller with the annual budgeting process.
  • Assist Corporate Controller with annual financial audit, income tax preparation, and any ad hoc accounting research or reporting.

What You’ll Need:

  • BS degree in accounting.  CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of professional accounting experience in a small to midsize company, showing progressive growth from Staff Accountant to Senior Accountant.  Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles.
  • Well developed Excel skills, to include VLOOKUP's and pivot tables.
  • NetSuite experience is highly preferred.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to be hands on. We are looking for a proactive, curious, self-starter who will own the entire process – from processing transactions, to review processes, and preparation of the monthly financial statements.
  • Ability to develop strong collaborative relationships inside and out of the company.
  • Experience working in a remote-first organization and ability to work with remote teams.
