What you will work on 

At FERNRIDE, the Teleoperation team designs, develops, and tests intuitive interfaces that bridge the gap between teleoperators and automated vehicles. Work includes collaborating with other engineering teams, implementing the latest technology, refining designs based on user feedback and inventing the “interface of the future” between autonomous vehicles and humans.

As Senior Software Engineer (C++/Teleoperation) (f/d/m), you put requirements into code. You will mainly work on C++ detailed software design and implementation, but also contribute to architecture decisions or you support our systems and safety engineers with valuable feedback. You will have a strong urge to find the best possible solution and to create elegant C++ code that is clean, maintainable, testable, effective & efficient. You will also participate very actively in code reviews, both on the giving and the receiving side and support the team to set standards. You will have a strong drive to manage code complexity. Your experience and an aptitude for product thinking allows you to devise and drive process improvement initiatives and product improvements.

  • Developing software in modern C++
  • Implementing Teleoperation and HMI specific software
  • Participating in code reviews and mentoring across teams
  • Guiding user testing and iteration on the user experience
  • Promoting your work, blogging it and representing FERNRIDE at events

What you will bring to the team

  • Outstanding programming skill and substantial experience in C++17
  • Experience with computer graphics and graphical user interfaces
  • Experience in programming applications for the Linux operating system
  • Knowledge of design patterns and algorithms
  • Knowledge of geometry and linear algebra
  • Experience with openGL, boost, abseil, gsl, Dear ImGui, googletest and/or other common general support libraries and frameworks
  • Technical leadership
  • Familiarity with Bazel
