Come join the engineering team at Fauna, where you’ll be working directly on our core product, FaunaDB, which is implemented in Scala. You'll help expand FaunaDB's featureset, ease of use, performance, and enterprise-readiness while keeping its promise of ACID-compliance and cloud-native fault tolerance.
Building an enterprise distributed database requires disciplined engineering. Our software is four years in the making and we’ve taken the time to build things right. You’ll be working with a team of engineers who have been tech leads for service teams, built other distributed systems, contributed to popular open source software, and worked at engineering leaders like Amazon, Twitter, and Oracle.
At Fauna, we're poised to disrupt the world of enterprise software with a unique distributed database that marries relational querying, ACID compliance, end-to-end security and other mission critical capabilities with the global scale and availability seen in NoSQL systems. We're targeting a $40B+ operational database market, and that is only the beginning.
What you will do:
- Implement industry changing features for the next generation of databases.
- Maintain a high standard of code quality in a clean, well-tested code base.
- Ensure a high standard of operational stability, so operators can rest easy.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
- Own new database functionality from design to delivery
What you will bring:
- Experience with Scala or FP style Java.
- Desire to write asynchronous software.
- Familiarity with Linux operations in a production environment.
- The drive to learn fast with minimal guidance.
In six months, you’ll be contributing directly to FaunaDB, participating in the maintenance of the production cloud environment, enhancing our distributed, QuickCheck-style quality assurance system, and taking ownership of new database functionality from design to delivery.
We are Fauna! …. A well-funded Series A startup, building the first mission critical NoSQL database. We're backed by Point 72 Ventures, GV (formerly Google Ventures), CRV, Data Collective, Quest Venture Partners, and many more leading Silicon Valley firms and led by the team that scaled Twitter. We are remote-first (but not remote-only) and based in San Francisco and Boston.
