We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.

About this role

As the Art Director overseeing marketing creative on our Brand Studio team at Faire, you’ll lead the delivery of world-class creative for Faire's brand marketing initiatives and join a tight-knit, collaborative team of designers responsible for bringing the Faire brand to life. In this role, you’ll help shape Faire’s look and feel and creative in our marketing campaigns, from concept through to execution. You’ll help coach and art direct other brand designers developing marketing creative on the team, as well as drive sourcing, partnering with, and managing top creative talent outside of Faire as needed to help bring core creative to life—be it illustrators, photographers, etc.

Working in close partnership with brand marketing, you’ll strive to deeply understand our customers and our brand and help craft marketing experiences that inspire the thousands of independent brands and retailers looking to grow their businesses around the world. We’re looking for a highly collaborative, seasoned visual designer with experience driving work and pushing brand marketing to the next level.

This role sits within Faire’s larger design organization at Faire, which includes product designers, content designers, and design researchers.

We're looking for candidates open to working in San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, Atlanta, GA, Toronto, ON, Kitchener, ON or remotely.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver original, world-class marketing creative: Art direct and concept marketing materials that tell the Faire brand story, build our brand equity, and move marketing metrics—owning the process from core concepting with our brand marketing partners, to visual design execution and art direction to creative resources outside Faire.
  • Elevate brand design team craft: Uphold the Faire design bar, push our brand creative to unexpected places, and mentor other brand designers in their craft.
  • Level up how Faire thinks about brand marketing: As a senior member of the team, you’ll help provide a new perspective and fresh ideas to the larger design organization and to all of Faire.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in a visual design and/or art director role. Whether at an agency or in-house, you’ve tackled a wide range of visual design challenges and led creative marketing campaign work.
  • An expert understanding of typography, color, and photography.
  • Experience leading others, whether as a manager or a lead.
  • A holistic approach to design, from high level strategy to small design details.
  • Great communication skills. You should be able to present your decisions and processes clearly and confidently, regardless of audience.
  • A collaborative approach. You’re a great partner to other designers and your cross-functional teammates.
  • A growth mindset. You’re open and receptive to feedback, are low-ego, and can adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • A sense of humor. We spend a lot of time together—even if that’s mostly on Zoom these days. Sharing gifs and laughing over lunch keeps our team energized and inspired.
  • A portfolio with work samples. We'd love to see a compelling portfolio of marketing creative that showcases your ability to think strategically and demonstrates a strong understanding of design principles across a wide range of mediums and channels.
