Factorial Energy, is looking for a highly motivated Sr. equipment engineering manager to deploy, maintain, and develop battery cell manufacturing equipment and tools to support the business’s objective on the next generation battery cell product launch, improve battery cell manufacturing capability, quality and yield, and reduce the manufacturing cost.
In additional to develop and manage the overall maintenance capability for the company, to ensure the maximum machine availability for production and best possible cell quality, the equipment engineering manager will work closely with the internal teams and outside vendors to develop the equipment design capability to maximize the efficiency, cell quality from the equipment side, to support Factorial Energy’s solid state battery technology and commercialization roadmap.
Please note: this position would start in Cheonan, South Korea.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide predictive and preventative maintenance support to ensure maximum factory uptime.
- Develop the maintenance and equipment engineering infrastructure, documentation, and team capability to execute the planned and unplanned equipment support
- Perform advanced equipment troubleshooting including electrical, plumbing, software, robotic, etc,
- Perform all work to industry standards complying with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations, chemical handling and following safe work habits.
- Manage tool calibration requirements and schedules.
- Manage spare parts inventory for production equipment
- Coordinate with process development and control engineers, and other groups on the projects and tasks of efficiency and productivity improvement, cell quality improvement, as well as cost reductions.
- Closely interface with contractors and service providers & vendors who will provide specific maintenance or job functions
- Establish equipment requirements and develop design concepts
- Develop specifications and manage SOR process for new manufacturing equipment
- Lead and manage project scope from concept through production launch
- Oversee detailed design of new manufacturing equipment
- Develop equipment validation plans
- Coordinate factory readiness and equipment installation
- Development, improve, and optimize the lithium battery cell process equipment’s for building the next generation solid state battery.
- Support the strategic equipment vendor partnership related activities.
- Develop and document specifications and standards for equipment, processes and product quality.
- Organize and coordinate root cause analysis and problem solving activities related to quality related issues.
Qualifications and Skills
- 7+ years of battery related equipment engineering or process engineering experience.
- BS/MS degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical/Material Engineering, or other related field
- Demonstrated experience in developing advanced manufacturing process and equipment innovation projects
- Strong analytical thinking, as well as problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with machine design and manufacturing process optimization
- Proficient and fluent in English is required (Korean/Mandarin proficiency is a plus)
