JOB SUMMARY: The Authorization/Insurance Verification position is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, to ensure necessary procedures are covered by an individual’s provider and to obtain a referral if necessary. Also responsible for entering data in an accurate manner in an electronic medical records system and verify that existing information is accurate. This position requires individuals to spend time on the phone with insurance companies and on insurance websites.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Verify patient insurance coverage scheduled for an appointment with a Doctor • Obtain refer if necessary and upload to patient electronic file • Update electronic medical records in electronic medical records system and ensure accuracy of records. • Provide appropriate documentation to front office staff and doctor teams regarding coverage. • Make phone calls to insurance companies regarding coverage and research insurance websites for coverage information. • Answer questions from co-workers regarding insurance coverage.
This position has no management responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required Computer skills and good oral communication required Prefer experience with insurance and verifications
