Cloud Engineers at Excella are individuals driven to build the most efficient, resilient, secure and stable infrastructure possible

We’re looking for candidates versed in:

  • Continuous Delivery: Delivering Cloud infrastructure as code using continuous delivery principles and embracing modern practices like test and policy automation
  • The DevOps mindset: a collaborative, value-first approach that understands the symbiotic nature and overlap of those groups who specialize in building and running applications. Shift things to the left. Fail fast. Put automation first.

Responsibilities

We are looking for Cloud Engineers with demonstrated experience in the following areas:  

  • Performing operations as code:Implementing infrastructure and operations procedures as code, checked into source control and deployed via an automated pipeline.  
  • Cloud migration: Helping clients translate their applications and services into the cloud for the first time.   
  • Cloud modernization: Implementing patterns to optimize and re-architect legacy applications into micro-service and/or serverless architectures.
  • Enabling Hybrid Cloud: Willingness to help clients leverage the strengths of their on-premise and cloud environments for maximum impact and value, and guiding clients around the associated trade-offs.
  • Automation of infrastructure: Crafting reliable and effective automated test suites that enable confident delivery and prevent defects as soon as possible in the delivery cycle. Experience with policy, compliance, and security automation are beneficial as well.
  • Cloud security:Implementing solutions involving the principle of least privilege, applying security at all layers of the infrastructure from application, to instance, to network configuration. Understanding and configuring identity & access management (IAM) in cloud ecosystems.
  • Creating traceability: Creating and designing solutions to monitor, alert, and audit actions and changes happening in the account in real-time.  
  • Repeatability: Establishing infrastructure tools and patterns that can be repeated and automated
  • Continuous Delivery: As new infrastructure and code are available they can be deployed to production or end users at any time, on demand.  

Qualifications / Skills 

You will have experience with using, supporting, administering, and leveraging tools in the following areas: 

  • Infrastructure as Code:  using tools such as  Terraform, Pulumi, Azure Bicep, Azure ARM templates, or the Azure CLI/SDKs. Utilization of PowerShell, bash, and similar technology to configure and debug modern operating systems.
  • Performance: Multi-availability zone / Region failover, auto-scaling, large-scale concurrent computing in the cloud.
  • Azure: Strong experience working with Azure core services such as IAM, Azure AD, Compute (VMs, Containers, AppServcice, Functions), Networking (Virtual Networks, VPN Gateways), Storage (Accounts, Disk/blob storage), Databases (CosmosDB, Azure SQL , Azure Database), and a decent working knowledge of the Azure Services catalog.
  • Azure AD and on-prem Active Directory: Securing application access using these methods and understanding how to use them in conjunction or migrate between them
  • Experience with Azure Data: Experience with Analysis Services, Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure ML / AI offerings
  • Security: Experience designing cloud solutions in a federal validated environment such as FedRamp, FISMA, HIPPAA.
  • Modern programming languages:Solving automation problems using tools such as:  C#/.NET, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.js,   
  • Automated Infrastructure Testing: Designing and implementing automated testing of infrastructure and application deployments in the cloud.
  • Containerization and Container Orchestration: Creating, deploying, and orchestrating code changes using tools such as: Docker, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, ACS/AKS
  • Leadership: Experience serving as a key subject-matter expert or thought leader to individuals to internal and external teams. Project planning and execution of enterprise level cloud solutions in an Agile environment. Driving achievable technical outcomes through hands-on technical subject matter expertise. You solve problems, and you help others do so.
  • Automation Pipelines: Creating and deploying as code changes to automation pipelines such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, Bamboo, CircleCI, TravisCI 
  • Understanding of DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) and the capabilities within the DORA capability catalog is encouraged.
