About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced product manager to join our Consumer Experience Product team. This team is responsible for building a delightful digital consumer experience, from onboarding users to helping them identify their families’ needs to purchasing the right insurance products to protect their families.

The ideal candidate will combine first-principles thinking, analytical rigor and creativity in envisioning a delightful customer experience. The role will also require heavy experimentation and strong execution to deliver results. We’re looking for an entrepreneurial product leader who is passionate about advocating on behalf of users and driving business growth, demonstrates a high degree of ownership, and is looking to join a team with a clear mission and purpose.

Key initiatives will include:

  • Educating consumers on the need for Life Insurance, and Ethos’s unique offering
  • Improving conversion rates by removing unnecessary friction and motivating users to complete the application
  • Own the user experience end to end, from the top of funnel through to the bottom, use data and user-research to unlock improvements to the customer experience and drive higher conversion rates
  • Improving our Life insurance coverage recommendations based on needs and price sensitivity
  • Right-sizing coverage and pricing based on a user’s changing needs over time
  • Taking new types of insurance products (e.g. Indexed Universal Life, Whole Life) to market
  • Building a great end to end experience anchored on accessibility, delight and simplicity with a focus on the Payments experience
  • Driving key customer metrics for the team such as Account creations, Activations and LTV

  • You’ll perform quantitative forecasting and qualitative research to identify product opportunities and prioritize your roadmap
  • You’ll work closely with Design, Analytics and Engineering to transform business opportunities into compelling product experiences
  • We are not risk averse! You’ll get to place lots of bets — big and small — and design and implement A/B tests to optimize every component of our in-app experience
  • You’ll have extremely high accountability. You’ll manage progress towards monthly and quarterly goals. 

To thrive in this role, you must have:

  • The ability identify business growth opportunities by using first-principles thinking, analyzing data, and deeply understanding customer needs
  • A strong analytical orientation -- a focus on data driven decision making and the ability to measure success. Experience with SQL & Amplitude a plus
  • The ability to work cross functionally with other team members, particularly design and engineering, to build amazing product experiences.
  • The drive to set and chase aggressive goals, prioritize what really matters, overcome inevitable obstacles, and execute quickly
  • Extremely high ownership. You identify and solve the most important business problems even if it’s “not my job”
  • Ability to take input from various stakeholders, and drive towards the right outcome for our customers and the business
  • Flexibility. You must have the ability to react to new industry and company developments, and new customer insights, and pivot to solve the most important problems
  • A strong understanding of current product best-practice and opinions on where product is going next
  • A track record of solving hard customer problems and driving business growth

We’d love to hear from you if you have the following minimum requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience across product management, platform, engineering, analytics or related functions.
  • At least two years of experience in partnering with design, engineering, and analytics teams to launch products for consumers, freelancers, or SMB

The US national base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 - $195,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
