Job Description
Etcher is looking for a talented Backend Engineer with a strong background in blockchain technology, specifically around Bitcoin or Ethereum based projects. As the first Backend engineer on our team you will play an integral role in forming Etcher’s architectural and infrastructural DNA. In this role you will connect our shared technological work of art with Bitcoin Ordinals APIs and work closely with our Frontend team to ensure a seamless and beautiful experience.
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and deploy the backend components of our product
- Connect our product with Bitcoin Ordinals APIs
- Develop high-quality code that is maintainable, performant, and accessible
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features and functionality
- Provide input and strategy for product development, user experience, and product strategy
- Ensure security is integrated into product development
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in a similar role
- Solid understanding of blockchain technology, with experience in Bitcoin or Ethereum development
- Experience with APIs, especially those related to Bitcoin Ordinals
- Knowledge of modern development methodologies and toolsets
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a 0-1 startup environment
- Experience working with distributed systems
- Experienced and comfortable working with remote teams
- Familiarity with NFTs and the digital art marketplace

Fully remote
Compensation
- Salary: $140,000 - $160,000 per year
- Equity: 0.2%+
- We are flexible in terms of engagement and can accommodate part-time or full-time roles as long as the candidate can commit to at least 20 hours a week.
- Equity will only be provided for candidates interested in full-time, salaried employment with Etcher.
