PROGRAMMING - UNREAL ENGINE

What We Do

Unreal-powered projects have been on the bleeding edge of real-time entertainment for over 20 years. Our team of programming experts are always innovating to improve the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.

What You'll Do

As part of a small globally distributed team of infrastructure engineers, you’ll support existing UCS services (such as Unreal Editor for Fortnite, RealityScan, MetaHuman Creator, Twinmotion and Unreal Revision Control) and design/deploy new cloud systems which will help shape the future of collaborative content creation.

In this role, you will

  • Design, build and maintain cloud architectures which host some of Epic’s most exciting projects at global scale
  • Provide cloud expertise to backend software developers to help create cloud-native services together
  • Write infrastructure automation scripts which integrate with Unreal Engine
  • Create, troubleshoot and write runbooks for infrastructure alerts
  • Be given opportunities to contribute to application source code
  • Keep our CI/CD systems humming along
  • Participate in a light-weight on-call rotation, alongside the entire UCS cloud team

What we're looking for

  • Solid skills with and experience using terraform, AWS, Linux Administration and git
  • Experience designing and deploying cloud systems, you can quickly conceptualize high-level cloud infrastructure designs from given requirements and deliver with minimal oversight
  • An understanding of the realities of software development and the needs of software engineers
  • An expert in writing code at a level suitable for infrastructure automation purposes, ideally in bash and/or python
  • Good working knowledge and recent experience using AWS architecture - EC2, IAM, S3, RDS etc
  • Experience with containerisation,(with a good grasp of the fundamentals) and configuring, maintaining (and potentially extending) CI/CD systems
  • Experience leveraging observability systems to help extract a signal from noise and have an opinion on best practices for monitoring, logging and tracing
  • Ability to reason on different infrastructure design approaches with an understanding of trade-offs and non-functional attributes -  performance / scalability / reliability / security / maintainability
  • Excellent written and spoken English with great interpersonal skills
  • Ability to mentor others on infrastructure engineering best practices
  • Bonus points for experience in managing Windows Server fleets in the Cloud

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including NYC).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

$207,107$290,000 USD
