POSITION OVERVIEW:

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and passionate about IT and Networking. Working as part of an expanding company, members of the Network Team will have opportunities to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team and can expect to be developed to their maximum of their potential.

The role specifically involves working as a Network Automation Engineer within a Network Engineering Team, supporting a large-scale enterprise network infrastructure for multiple customers.

Hours: typical range will be Mon-Fri 9:00am to 5:00pm with some out of hours work as required.

The successful candidate will help develop and understand requirements from internal and external customers and create technical solutions to improve productivity and services. The candidate must have a strong technical background, be innovative and agile, collaborate well in a team environment, and have very strong written and verbal communication skills – a visionary who challenges the status quo and believes that technologies can level-up productivity.

Candidates will be expected to travel 25% of the time.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Assist with various network projects across the business
    • Assist in building automation to streamline Network operations and minimize manual tasks
    • Design and develop complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance the performance of our internal network
    • Identify, analyze, and resolve issues with automation scripts and tools
    • Contribute to the improvement of existing automation processes and tools
    • Collaborate with other automation teams in the business
    • Assist with new technology deployments
    • Assist with Cisco DNAC, Netbox deployments, scripting and templates
    • Use Netbox to build vendor agnostic automation scripts
    • Updating existing network documentation
    • Mentoring junior members of the team

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a proactive mindset
  • Proficient in Python, Ansible (Jinja2) and Yamal, for network automation tasks and script development.
  • Previous experience working with Github, Power shell, Terraform or Open Tofu
  • Experience building and managing network capabilities and platforms that automate the provisioning, deployment, and ongoing management of network devices
  • Experience with network automation tools like Cisco Catalyst Center or Netbox (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of Network routing and switching platforms (e.g., Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Arista etc).
  • In-depth knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and switching protocols such as STP, VLAN, and VTP.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively
  • Demonstrated quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 4+ years of experience within a Network Devops team
  • 4+ years of experience with Layer 2 / Layer 3  Switching & routing protocols
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot routing/switching technologies including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP in an enterprise class environment.
  • Experience with SDN and SDWAN deployments would be advantageous.
  • Experience with multiple networking vendors including Cisco, HP, Aruba, Juniper, and Arista
  • Ability to work outside regular working hours as needed by the client, including evenings and weekends.
  • Networking Certifications such as CCNP
  • Experience with enterprise environments on a global scale
  • Strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Fluent in spoken & written English preferred
