The Materials Coordinator is responsible for the administrative activities which support the acquisition and control of equipment spare parts, disposable maintenance and operating tools, and a variety of other indirect materials and supplies to support plant operations. The position maintains the plant’s spares and supplies storeroom and oversees the receipts, recording, tracking, and reporting on material inventory levels, usage, costs, suppliers, supplier service levels, expediting, returns, etc.

Responsibilities

Purchasing:

  • Verifies requisitions are properly completed before forwarding to Procurement Specialist for processing.
  • Supports the development and implementation of purchasing, materials, and storeroom policies and procedures.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with reporting requirements, metrics, and other information essential to preparation of business performance reviews, open and closed requisitions, etc.
  • Maintains inventory control over all applicable items in storerooms.
  • Enters delivery receipts into SAP and TabWare procurement systems.
  • Prepares and performs inventory counts and spot checks as needed for min/max reporting.
  • Updates and maintains inventory volumes, values, and vendors in TabWare.

Production / Maintenance Support:

  • Physically receives purchase deliveries at plant or, on occasion, at offsite pickup points of delivery.
  • Verifies deliveries and notifies the requisitioner of delivery of requested items.
  • Maintains superior storeroom organization.
  • Distributes inventory items as necessary for plant usage.

Other:

  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or designee.

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Certificate from trade school, preferably in procurement, materials management, logistics, engineering or finance a plus
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skill
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience with ERP software procurement modules is desirable, with SAP experience being a definite advantage
  • Forklift certification

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees 
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment 
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Willing and able to pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
