Summary

Enveritas is looking for exceptional talent to join our global team and help lead our operations in Brazil.

Background

Enveritas provides sustainability assurance for the coffee industry, assessing social, economic, and environmental practices in the coffee supply chain. Enveritas operates in 27 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

We work with leading coffee roasters to understand the sustainability issues in their supply chain, based on our sustainability standards. Coffee roasters pay for these assessments, not coffee farmers. This permits many smallholder growers to access sustainable coffee markets who might otherwise have been shut out due to the prohibitive cost of sustainability audits which can cost thousands of dollars.

We believe this represents a pragmatic approach with integrity that offers a path to protect the environment and improve the livelihoods of coffee farmers.

Enveritas is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 2016.

The Role

As Brazil Country Manager, your role will be to lead stakeholder engagement and set the strategic direction for operations in Brazil, while helping to ensure that Enveritas’s integrity and quality standards are maintained and actionable insights are surfaced.

  Specifically, you will:

  • Build strong connections with local partners and stakeholders, including government, exporters, farmers’ organizations, NGOs, and research institutes; we need the support, expertise and goodwill of various partners.
  • Develop deep expertise in local sustainability issues; this will enable you to shape policy discussions, farmers’ behaviors, and the decisions of major actors in the Brazilian coffee sector.
  • Help draft, review and present sustainability scorecards and reports to key stakeholders.
  • Surface the trends and insights that will help coffee roasters make data driven decisions about how they strengthen their supply chains in a sustainable manner.
  • Manage contracts: Familiarity with negotiating the terms, conditions, costs, and other specifications of a contract while making sure they comply with legal requirements and are legally enforceable. Oversee the execution of the contract, agree on and document any changes.
  • Work on new initiatives in collaboration with members of the Enveritas global team, which includes program & field operations managers, data scientists, product managers, software engineers, agronomy and coffee industry experts.
  • Lead ad hoc special projects, which may not necessarily be related to coffee (i.e. cocoa, oil palm)
  • Other duties as assigned, including outside of Brazil.

Enveritas will invest heavily in your growth and success. We recognize that we will need to attract and retain exceptional talent in order to fulfill our vision of reaching 100% of the world’s coffee farmers across 30+ countries. You will have the backing of a global team with deep experience in coffee sustainability and technology to help you reach your goals. We offer a fun, open, flat, and agile work culture that mitigates the communication challenges posed by being a global organization.
