Then & Now

Our story starts in 2006 with three founders in a Sydney garage (no, we’re not kidding). Born from a desire to earn a living doing what they loved, with the flexibility to do it from anywhere, Envato set out to create an online community for buying and selling creative digital assets. Every day, these products continue to help everyone from freelancers to small business owners and agencies get their creative projects done.

What you’ll be doing

Join our Finance team as a Senior Finance Business Partner and be responsible for delivering successful financial control and finance planning & analysis solutions whilst delivering an excellent service to the groups you partner with. 

Reporting to the Fiance Manager the SFBP will work with key stakeholders in AU and Mexico to help them understand their financials, and as a trusted partner, provide advice ensuring they make successful financial decisions to effectively run their business.  Your role will also see you engage in supervision and review activities as directed by the Finance Manager, take the lead on projects, take the initiative on problem solving, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.  

The position will hold specific responsibilities across the Finance function including all aspects of financial control and financial planning and forecasting.  

Key Duties & Responsibilities   

Financial Control 

  • Preparation of key reconciliations
  • Performing calculations and checks for 3rd party payments
  • Processing  journals required in creating accurate financial records
  • Ensuring compliance with documented controls and processes and ad-hoc reviews of controls
  • Supporting the preparation of tax compliance, payment and reporting relevant to your division
  • Participate as directed in finance or commercial projects
  • Other financial control activities as directed by the finance manager or Finance Leadership team 
  • Peer review of reconciliations and journals where requested.
  • Delegation of supervision and review tasks as directed by finance manager

Financial Planning and Forecasting

  • Preparing annual budgets and monthly forecast
  • Prepare & deliver monthly reporting pack, including variance analysis and commentary that brings insight and additional information that is not present in the raw data (connecting the dots between financial, commercial and operational performance) and influences decision making in the business
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and insight into the performance of your division and any financial data requested by key stakeholders
  • Peer review of variance analysis and commentary where requested
  • Understand and use of a variety of forecasting techniques, including statistical analysis
  • Delegation of supervision and review tasks as directed by finance manager

Business Partnering 

  • Contact point for GMs, HODs and other relevant business stakeholders
  • Build a close relationship with the relevant stakeholders and be the “go to” person for all finance related queries
  • Understand the business operations and be able to provide valued financial and commercial advice
  • Actively engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and suggest improvements
  • Awareness of industry dynamics, macro-economic trends and the competitor landscape

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant with a minimum of five years experience 
  • Experience in delivering financial control and financial planning and forecasting activities
  • Understanding of key financial processes required to run a business, including a thorough knowledge of the financial processes and controls required to ensure accuracy and validity of results
  • Working knowledge of accounting standards and ability to interpret and apply to real situations
  • Demonstrated experience as a trusted advisor to senior leaders
  • Experience using a variety of accounting systems (systems implementation a bonus)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy; instinctively looking for ways to cross check and validate output
  • Ability to analyse situations and connect the dots between financial, commercial and strategic goals; the curiosity to look behind the numbers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to ask questions probing that help you understand operations Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to tailor style and message to suit the audience
  • Previous experience and a desire to improve systems and processes; strongly motivated to make things run more effectively and efficiently
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
