Associate Director of Digital

The Associate Director of Digital, reporting directly to the Director of Communications, is responsible for the planning, execution, and management of communications with a focus on digital communications and digital marketing strategy. This person will develop and implement communication strategies surrounding EROC’s website, email communications, and social media, and come with a strong knowledge of best practices in digital communications. This individual works in collaboration with the Director of Communications and Communications Team to ensure coordinated, timely, intersectional, and strategic messaging.

EROC is currently in a high-growth phase. A successful candidate is excited about trying new ideas and implementing new systems. An ability to create and sustain structure and order is paramount. This individual is comfortable working in a startup-like, high-growth, and fast-paced environment - in regards to time commitment, innovation, and with a commitment to building internal processes and structures.

The Associate Director of Digital has a strong commitment to EROC’s values and mission, including a commitment to sexual violence prevention, anti-racism, social justice, accessibility, and civil rights. This position is a full-time middle management position. The Associate Director of Digital is routinely expected to work outside of 9:30-6:00 office hours at least several times a month due to the fast-paced nature of the news cycle and EROC’s strong digital presence. Starting salary for this position is $68,000, with pay commensurate with experience. This position may grow to manage Associate level and Fellow level staff. Some travel is required for this position. This position is based in DC.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide Direct Support to the Director of Communications and other departments

  • Be a thought partner in developing and executing campaign strategy and working cross-departmentally
  • Manage digital lists of stakeholders and partners in collaboration with the Development Team and strategically engage stakeholders
  • Support the needs of the Director of Communications, the Communications Team, and other departments as appropriate

Strategically Grow and Manage EROC’s Digital Platforms

  • Manage and grow EROC’s website including transforming innovative ideas into increased web traffic and analyzing SEO and marketing metrics
  • Bring forward innovative ideas to expand EROC’s digital presence as emerging platforms
  • Draft social media content that is in line with EROC’s intersectional values and responds to current events and rapid response
  • Design and implement digital strategies within budget requirements
  • Set specific objectives for social media, website, and email program and monitor progress
  • Ensure web best practices are met and maintain a digital presence that is accessible
  • Strategize and implement a healthy blog with a focus on intersectionality
  • Raise the visibility of EROC and collaborate cross-departmentally to highlight EROC programming
  • Foster strategic, targeted communications in order to build and expand relationships with all constituencies that contribute to EROC’s success maintaining EROC’s market position and identity
  • Create an organizational email strategy, draft email content, and implement strategies such as A/B testing to maximize email program effectiveness

Collaborate on Communications Collateral

  • Write remarks and statements for EROC staff in their own voice
  • Produce print and electronic publications
  • Collaborate in managing press, media, and pulling clips
  • Develop print, electronic, and social media materials
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure brand consistency

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is recommended, but not required Understanding of analytics, A/B testing and other techniques to continually improve performance
  • Digital video experience ideal, but not mandatory (shooting, editing, short-videos, digital presence, etc.)
  • Comfort with bringing forward and executing innovative ideas cross-departmentally
  • Experience managing and sustaining a website including analyzing and expanding web traffic and SEO management
  • Experience managing analytics and growth across digital platforms
  • Excellent and compelling writing skills (speech writing, email copy, op-eds, press statements, etc.), detail-oriented
  • Comfortable in rapid response situations and events
  • Strong copy editing skills and editorial skills
  • Ability to produce high-quality work meeting deadlines and to balance multiple commitments in an organized and efficient way
  • Ability to work independently with a willingness to problem solve
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, especially the ability to form bold and strong communications collateral while in the midst of still-unfolding internal and external events
  • Commitment to organization mission and vision with a thirst for dismantling systems of oppression
