We are seeking a seasoned Staff Platform Engineer to serve as the Technical Lead for the team. This leadership position will be responsible for shaping the strategy, architecture, and delivery of our core platform services while mentoring engineers and guiding best practices across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technologist with deep expertise in AWS and cloud infrastructure who thrives on solving complex challenges at scale. You’ll be at the forefront of designing cost-effective, secure, and innovative platform solutions, while also collaborating closely with stakeholders to align business objectives with technical execution. If you’re passionate about driving technical excellence, leading with vision, and enabling teams to build faster and smarter, we’d love to have you on our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native solutions on AWS, architecting scalable, secure, and cost-efficient systems spanning compute, storage, databases, networking, and security domains.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze existing AWS environments, identifying opportunities to optimize performance, improve reliability, and reduce costs, then driving implementation of improvements.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation) to enable consistency, speed, and scalability.
  • Partner with application and development teams to recommend, guide, and implement managed AWS services and serverless architectures that support business objectives and accelerate delivery.
  • Establish, implement, and enforce security policies and compliance requirements across AWS environments, embedding security and business continuity as foundational principles.
  • Define and maintain policies, guardrails, and best practices for new platforms, tools, and applications to balance technical discipline with business agility.
  • Lead incident response and support efforts for AWS infrastructure and applications, ensuring timely resolution and building resilience into systems.
  • Participate in the platform team’s on-call rotation, providing expert support and guidance during critical events.
  • Serve as a mentor and technical leader, coaching junior engineers, fostering skill development, and driving knowledge sharing across the engineering organization.
  • Stay current with the latest AWS services, emerging technologies, and industry best practices, advising on adoption strategies to maintain a cutting-edge platform.
  • Create and deliver high-quality technical assets, including best practice recommendations, tutorials, sample code, and technical presentations, tailored to both engineering teams and key business stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain documentation outlining workflows, processes, and architectural designs to ensure clarity, consistency, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders and business leaders to interpret requirements, align cloud strategies with business goals, and drive forward-looking platform initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on expertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS), with proven success architecting, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-level cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Deep experience with EKS, EC2, and ECS for scalable containerized and virtualized workloads.
  • Strong proficiency with AWS CDK and Lambda to deliver event-driven, serverless applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of S3 and Glacier for data storage, archiving, and lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency with VPC design, Route53 routing, and secure multi-region configurations.
  • Expertise with both relational (RDS) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) database solutions.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using at least one major tool (Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation) to automate and standardize deployments.
  • Deep knowledge of DevOps principles, including design and optimization of CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions) to enable rapid, reliable software delivery.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security architecture and best practices, with proven experience implementing compliance, access controls, and secure networking patterns.
  • Proficient in networking fundamentals (e.g., VPC, subnets, security groups, NACLs) and capable of designing resilient, scalable, and secure network topologies.
  • Extensive experience leveraging AWS managed services and serverless solutions to optimize performance, cost, and maintainability.
  • Experience with AWS IAM and privileged access management, ensuring secure user and service identity governance.
  • Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks (e.g., CloudWatch, third-party tools), with preference for knowledge of SCIM and identity federation.
  • Comfortable working across additional public cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) to support multi-cloud or hybrid solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, adept at explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
