As a Data Scientist with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) (Multiple Positions Open) you’ll:  

  • Leverage data to drive growth and support the Revenue and Marketing team by designing and executing A/B experiments to optimize paid acquisition, lifecycle marketing, and user engagement.
  • Utilize data mining, statistical analysis, and machine learning to extract insights on user behavior, segmentation, and market trends to enhance marketing effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Growth, and Product teams, to develop data-driven strategies for user acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of lifecycle marketing campaigns to understand the incremental impact of email marketing on revenue generation.
  • Ensure marketing strategy aligns with the company’s objectives, leveraging data-driven experimentation to increase user engagement while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

What You’ll Bring to The House

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Business Analytics, or closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the position offered or as a Data/Marketing Analyst, or closely related position in data sciences.
  • Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the fields above followed by five (5) years of progressive, post-bachelor’s experience in positions specified above.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in the following: Leveraging statistical data analysis and predictive modeling to assess the performance of paid marketing campaigns, generating insights that drive strategic decision-making for user acquisition, growth and revenue optimization; Applying hypothesis testing to design and execute experiments and A/B tests to measure the impact of marketing initiatives on customer conversion, retention, and overall performance; Utilizing SQL and data visualization tools to extract, manipulate, and analyze large-scale datasets from multiple sources, ensuring accurate performance tracking and uncovering key trends, patterns, trends and anomalies in marketing data; Implementing machine learning and advanced analytics techniques to develop data-driven audience segmentation and targeting strategies, maximizing the advertising efficiency and optimizing budget allocation; Designing and developing automated reporting dashboards using data visualization tools, delivering real-time insights into campaign performance, user behavior, and key marketing metrics to stakeholders; Conducting causal inference analysis and incrementality testing to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategy, enabling data-driven decision-making and performance optimization; and Collaborating with engineering and marketing teams to build and optimize data pipelines, enhance marketing attribution models, and refine experimental frameworks, ensuring data integrity and measurable business impact.

The starting salary for this role is expected to be: $190,600 - $236,000/year.

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
