About the Role

Instacart’s catalog technology powers world-class e-commerce storefronts. As a Group Product Manager for our Catalog team at Instacart, you'll lead a group of talented product managers with the exciting challenge of improving and expanding our catalog using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Your role is central to enhancing how we understand and display products, ensuring the accuracy of the catalog in terms of prices, attributes and product identity.  Your leadership will directly influence our customer experience and build a platform that makes all of Instacart’s teams successful.

 

About the Job

  • Identify key opportunities to enhance the catalog by incorporating AI and ML technologies. Clearly articulate the product vision and strategy for the catalog to stakeholders and team members. Advocate for product improvements by leveraging data-driven insights to guide decisions.
  • Ensure the product listings in the catalog are accurately maintained and implement quality control measures to uphold product information integrity. Manage and resolve any catalog-related issues that are reported by users or internal teams.
  • Lead and inspire product managers to execute catalog enhancement initiatives, ensuring cross-collaboration between engineering, operations, and data science teams. Establish effective communication channels to align on project objectives and deadlines. Offer mentorship and career growth opportunities to your team members.
  • Develop and prioritize the catalog roadmap to align with business goals, ensuring timely coordination of cross-functional teams to meet milestones. Monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to deliverables. Lead roadmap planning sessions with stakeholders and clearly communicate any updates or changes to all relevant parties.

 

About the Team

The Instacart Catalog team is one of the most critical and core parts of Instacart, powering 80% of the pixels that users and shoppers see in their experience.  This team ingests retailer catalog data (inventory, images, descriptions, prices, etc), enrich it with data from brands and other sources, and organize and structure/enhance that data in a way we can effectively serve it to internal teams that consume it (Ads, Consumer and Shoppers) and ultimately our customers that shop them.

 

About You

  • Proficiency in artificial intelligence (AI) applications and experience with machine learning (ML) technologies
  • Expertise in data analysis and data-driven decision making
  • Experience in leading product roadmap planning and execution
  • Understanding of user experience and customer interface optimization

Minimum qualifications

  • 8+ years of product management or similar experience
  • Team management experience (direct or indirect)-- developing others, giving tough feedback, creating operating norms and rituals
  • Strong Marketplace or Systems thinking - ability to understand and multi sided marketplace interactions, work through long-term vs. short-term tradeoffs, heavily informed by data, first principles thinking as well as user research
  • Strong XFN communication - helping a cross functional team and leadership understand problems and solutions in a complex domain

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Catalog related role, knowledge of product catalog management systems
