We are seeking a Director of Compensation to lead the design, execution, and management of our global compensation programs. This role requires a data-driven, analytical mindset with a strong foundation in data modeling, compensation strategy, and business partnership. The ideal candidate blends a background in investment, finance, and/or consulting with technical expertise in data science, analytics, and compensation modeling.

This role will focus on delivering high-impact, scalable compensation solutions, emphasizing data science, modeling, benchmarking, and advanced analytics to influence strategic decision-making.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office. You will report to the Chief People Officer.

You'll Get To…

  • Lead the strategy and execution of global compensation programs, including base pay, short-term and long-term incentives, and job architecture
  • Develop sophisticated financial and compensation models, scenario planning, and cost simulations to support data informed compensation decisions and workforce planning
  • Utilize Python, SQL, or other analytical tools to analyze large datasets, automate compensation workflows, and deliver insights through reproducible code
  • Build, manage, and develop a team of three compensation analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous growth through coaching, mentoring, and career development.
  • Partner with Finance, HRBPs, and senior leaders to align compensation strategies with broader business and talent objectives globally
  • Conduct market benchmarking using compensation surveys and internal equity analysis; ensure alignment with pay transparency requirements
  • Oversee core compensation planning processes, including annual merit cycles, bonus programs, job leveling, and promotions
  • Provide strategic recommendations to executives on pay positioning, retention strategies, compensation policy, and workforce design
  • Ensure compliance with global pay regulations and support evolving pay transparency initiatives
  • Design and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions using business intelligence tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, or similar) to track program effectiveness and support decision-making

Who We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in financial analysis, investment banking, or management consulting
  • 6+ years of people management experience, including coaching, developing, and growing talent
  • Strong fluency in data analysis tools, including proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, Python, SQL, and analytical tools
  • Experience with compensation survey providers (e.g., Radford, Mercer, WTW) and job leveling methodologies and frameworks
  • Strategic thinker who can translate business goals into actionable compensation strategies
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or CFA a plus

Preferred Experience

  • Compensation experience in tech, high-growth, or global organizations
  • Background in data science or people analytics environments is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with public / private equity compensation and executive pay structures
  • Experience designing scalable systems or automated tools to support compensation at scale

Cash Compensation Range: $203,500 - $300,000 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
