Director, Contracts Management 

Fastly’s Legal Team is looking for a strategic, collaborative and operationally-minded Director to lead and scale our Contracts Management Team. This role in pivotal in driving deal velocity to enable revenue growth, and optimizing contract management and execution across Fastly’s global GTM, procurement and partnership functions. You will lead a fast-paced, high-performing team of contracts professionals and partner closely with Legal, Sales, Deal Desk, Finance, Pricing & Packaging, Procurement and other cross-functional stakeholders to streamline processes, optimize workflows and drive operational excellence in contracting at scale.

This position reports to the Associate General Counsel leading our Commercial Legal team and will be based out of one of Fastly’s US offices (San Francisco, New York or Denver).

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and scale Fastly’s Contracts Team, supporting GTM, procurement and partnerships contract management and deal flows
  • Design and optimize end-to-end contract workflows and process documentation for intake, triage, approvals and execution 
  • Partner with legal operations to manage systems for contract lifecycle management (CLM), deal queue tracking, and signature workflows
  • Maintain and evolve contract templates, clause libraries and playbooks to support scalable global contract support for standard and non-standard deals
  • Mentor and manage a team of contracts professionals, project managing team initiatives, balancing workloads and driving team velocity and operational excellence
  • Partner with commercial attorneys to draft and negotiate standard agreements (e.g. NDAs, Service Orders, Supplemental Terms) and supervise team negotiations
  • Support audits and compliance by ensuring complete, accurate and accessible contract records 
  • Champion innovation, automation and best practices to minimize friction, enhance deal velocity, and simplify contracting to improve business outcomes

What We're Looking For: 

  • 10+ years’ experience in contracts management, administration, negotiation or a related function, in high-growth and fast-paced technology environments
  • 3+ years’ managing high-performing teams, with a focus on scalability, operational excellence and team development 
  • Deep understanding of the full contract lifecycle, including intake, redlines, approvals, execution and records management 
  • Experience efficiently leveraging commercial contracting tools like Salesforce CPQ, Ironclad or other CLMs, DocuSign, Jira and other contract management automation solutions
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills with meticulous organization and attention to detail, an obsession with process simplification and a commitment to accountability
  • Clear, concise communicator with an ability to simplify complex issues and make efficient, practical recommendations to a business audience
  • Proven success collaborating cross-functionally and building trusted business relationships
  • Must exercise discretion and properly handle confidential and sensitive information in a public company environment
  • Bachelor’s degree

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

  • Experience supporting contract lifecycle deal flows and controls at a public company
  • Hands-on experience implementing AI and automation in contract lifecycle dealflows
  • Background in managing contract deal flows across multiple global jurisdictions

Work Hours: 

  • This position will require you to be available during core business hours, with flexibility to adjust hours for work supporting other regions (e.g. EMEA / APAC) as needed.

Salary: 

The estimated salary range for this position is $179,670.00 to $253,644.00.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
