What you’ll do

In this essential role on AlixPartners’ Corporate Services team, you will support the AlixPartners Server environment as a key member of the IT Infrastructure Operations team. The Infrastructure Team is responsible for the maintenance, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of the AlixPartners data center environments. You will take part in the design, build, and implementation of new and existing technologies to support the increasing demands from the greater AlixPartners community. You will be providing technical guidance and mentoring of staff members.

The IT Infrastructure Operations Senior Engineer is a full-time position located in Southfield, MI and reports to the Infrastructure Operations Manager. Paid relocation is not available for this position. There will be periodic on-call responsibilities outside of regular working hours and participation in monthly maintenance activities.

  • Perform daily systems management and tuning, including maintenance and trend analysis of the data center infrastructure.
  • Provide day-to-day technical, administrative, and functional support for AlixPartners infrastructure systems. 
  • Participate in the maintenance and support of performance monitoring platforms and tools.
  • Act as a point of contact with global power footprint for all offices and datacenters
  • Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, Intune, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Conduct compliance maintenance patching for Windows Operating Systems and 3rd party applications.
  • Support a multi-site Windows Active Directory Environment.
  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of all supported systems to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and requirements
  • Run automation tasks and scripting modifications
  • Acquire knowledge, via both formal and on-the-job training, of the various 3rd party packaged software applications and custom solutions used to provide system monitoring, management, and reporting within the AlixPartners environment.
  • Ensure stable implementation and support of enterprise servers, as well as VMware ESXi environments. 
  • Participate in the creation (or modification) of documentation activities related to system configuration, policies, and procedures.

What you’ll need

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with Microsoft Windows, Windows Server OS.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience including supporting a multi-site Windows Active Directory Environment.
  • Experience with VMware ESXi and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of general enterprise IT principles and practices, including experience with both hardware and software architectures.
  • Familiar with M365 platform.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Suite (SCOM, SCORCH, SCEM).
  • Experience with Monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell Scripting and application packaging is a plus.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly research new platforms and issues.
  • Collaborative style and customer-service mindset with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people at all levels.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Independent, adaptive worker with a sense of urgency in a complex and changing working environment. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented, critical thinker who possesses a real passion for helping others.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience in a 24x7x365 service delivery model supporting mission-critical business operations.
  • Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
  • On-Call Responsibilities outside of regular working hours and participation in monthly maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
