About the role

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to join our Research & Development Operations team. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence within our R&D department (Engineering & Product), growing efficient processes, and facilitating seamless collaboration across various teams. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in designing, planning, and coordinating cross functional improvements in an intensely technical landscape.

R&D Operations plays a crucial role in enabling our organization to exceed customer expectations by shortening feedback loops and accelerating learning. By focusing on coordination and process effectiveness , R&D Operations minimizes friction and allows teams to concentrate on delivering high-quality products and services. They ensure that R&D is constantly improving in all facets while remaining aligned, agile, and  consistently exceeding  the evolving needs of our customers with high quality.

You Will

  • Lead the requirements gathering, program scoping, and solution planning for key initiatives.
  • Define and track success metrics using a combination of quantitative and qualitative measurements.
  • Leverage software development expertise to identify potential obstacles to program success.
  • Perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for potential obstacles.
  • Develop dashboards for self-service monitoring of project status and delivery to objectives.
  • Continuously assess program execution for improvement opportunities and alignment to corporate goals.
  • Contribute to methodology definition, process maturation and continuous improvement of the Operations department.

You Have

  • 8+ years of experience successfully defining and delivering complex and highly technical programs.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and real world application in a cloud software environment.
  • Extensive experience tailoring Jira to a company’s needs and the pros/cons of configuration decisions.
  • In depth technical knowledge of software development practices and technologies, especially in a SaaS environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to leverage technology to drive process improvements.

BabuSrithar is the Site Leader for India. He is responsible for our growth strategy and is a cultural champion in the region. He is passionate about building high-quality software products and lean teams by leveraging everyone's potential. He enjoys working with people and learning along the way. Before joining Cockroach Labs, BabuSrithar held senior leadership positions at companies like Nutanix, Clumio and recently he was VP of engineering at Apty where he led the engineering globally. When not at work, he enjoys his time with his 5-year-old and family.

Colin Minihan, Director of R&D Operations

Colin is responsible for ensuring that operations within the R&D department are as efficient and impactful as possible. He has built and managed multiple high performing program management organizations at various companies, often during crucial growth stages. His love of learning and building extends beyond his profession in software, always looking for the next DIY project or outdoor hobby in the Pacific Northwest.
