Western Door Federal is seeking a Senior Cloud Solutions Developer to support a program with the United States Military Academy - West Point. The objective of this work is to provide support comprehensive cloud solution services, hosted in MS Azure, as part of a larger team. This Developer will be responsible for delivering projects including software development, development operations, and application migration engagements, utilizing cloud technologies in Azure.

The Senior Cloud Software Developer will focus on application modernization of on-premises applications to the cloud, greenfield and brownfield development, and occasional customer consulting.  Candidates must have competency using a variety of Microsoft and web application development tools and languages. Activities will consist of 80% software development and 20% architecture. 

The successful Developer in this position will have development skills in cloud centric technologies and will be adept at executing software development projects independently and in a team environment.  They will also act as a trusted advisor for our clients and have a strong knowledge of industry trends, patterns, and practices.

As a Senior Cloud Software Developer, you may be required to define solution architectures, compose technical specifications, construct DevOps pipelines, create DevOps artifacts and test software.  You must also be a skilled communicator who can work effectively with collaborators distributed across US time zones.  The Senior Cloud Software Developer will occasionally travel to client sites.

Essential Duties:

  • Code solutions from business requirements documentation.
  • Problem-solve solutions for novel challenges.
  • Perform project work estimation and risk assessment.
  • Use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
  • Lead customers through technical assessments and architecture reviews
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects in a productive manner.
  • Travel to client site as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable proficiency with Visual Studio for web applications, API, and database project development, source control, and deployment.
  • Experience with an appropriate toolset for development and deployment of front-end web-applications.
  • Lead customers through technical assessments and architecture reviews.
  • Use resources effectively and efficiently to get work completed.
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects in a productive manner.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned and will follow instructions and respond to management direction.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • US Citizen and able to pass security clearances as required for Government contracts.
  • Minimum three years of professional architecture experience with Azure PaaS solutions.
  • Minimum five years of professional experience with development and successful delivery of applications using Microsoft’s .NET platform and toolset including ASP.NET MVC, .NET Core, C#.
  • Minimum five years of professional experience with development and successful delivery of web applications using modern web frameworks such as React, Vue.js, and/or Angular.
  • Ability to present and lead customers through technical assessment and solution architecture.
  • Minimum three years of experience with data and database structures and solutions within Azure.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps and or GitHub source control processes, work item management, branch management, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge and experience with professional software development patterns and practices.
  • Experience with end-to-end application development is a must.
  • Minimum three years of experience with data and database structures and solutions within Azure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customer site on a quarterly basis.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with third-party control libraries (DevExpress preferred).
  • Experience with estimating software solutions and assessing project risk.
  • Experience with Entity Framework.
  • Experience with Agile / Iterative development processes.
