ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you looking to make a difference by building the brand of one of the largest social impact organizations in the world?

We’re looking for a seasoned marketing & PR professional who is passionate about social impact to help grow the Purpose brand in the world & create more impact through our work. You will continue to build the Purpose team’s reputation as innovators and thought leaders across the spaces of public health, civil rights, climate, racial equity, education, misinformation, impact measurement, brand purpose, and design. 

This person should have a keen understanding of the social impact space to help build Purpose’s profile and brand among nonprofit, corporate, government, and philanthropic partners. This work will contribute to how Purpose is positioned in the marketplace as a leading social impact consultancy, design firm, and campaigning innovation hub. This person will work across geographies with all of Purpose’s global offices & stakeholders. 

This role will work closely with the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications as well as the Partnerships team & Global Senior leadership team to build and execute on Purpose’s press strategy, social media content strategy, conference strategy, paid media strategy, thought leadership strategy, and more. The ultimate aim of this role is to raise the profile of Purpose’s brand, Purpose’s leaders, and to help Purpose reach its business & impact goals. 

We're open to candidates based in NY or elsewhere in the US, willing to work on Eastern Time, as well as those based in and around London. Our offices are working in a remote/hybrid model for the time being.  

This role is a full-time role at the manager tier with a salary range of $75,000-$95,000 / £50,000 - £60,000, commensurate with experience. This role reports to the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build an overall marketing strategy for Purpose
  • Build and execute against Purpose’s global content calendar
    • Regularly curate content for social media that aligns with marketing strategy & reaches key audiences
    • Curate & write blog posts for Purpose’s blog
    • Identify press moments relevant to the social issues Purpose works on (for example, public health, civil rights, climate, racial equity, education, misinformation) & liaise with the team to generate thought leadership in those moments 
    • Curate, write & send Purpose’s external newsletter
    • Identify and manage thought leadership opportunities including op-eds (including writing), podcasts, speaking opportunities, and more
  • Create & execute a conference strategy
    • Pitch and secure conferences & speaking engagements for Purpose leadership in key issue areas & social impact spaces
  • Create & execute a paid media strategy for Purpose
    • including Google Ads, LinkedIn & Instagram ads, and more
  • Create & execute against an awards strategy for Purpose
    •  including entering awards, leveraging wins, and networking
  • Coordinate public and media relations activities across geographies
    •  Liaise with external vendors to promote the Purpose brand, including securing quality news coverage and speaking engagements, developing strategic materials and managing relationships with journalists, partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Create content, press releases, op-eds, think-pieces, talking points and anything else to be published across media platforms
  • Work with office managers to plan events & panels that will position Purpose as a leader in the market 
  • Monitor issue-related events and identify opportunities for strong media activities
  • Report internally on KPIs & progress (collaborating with Marketing team on social media & website analytics / geo-specific strategies) 
  • Represent Purpose to media contacts and will grow our relationships with key media outlets on our focus issue areas

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5+ years experience working in marketing/ public relations – including specific experience in the social impact space
  • Experience with systems: Google Ads, Facebook/ Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Social Media analytic tools
  • A proven ability of creating & maintaining a press/content calendar
  • A proven ability to develop media strategies that have landed in the largest social impact publications & websites
  • Press contacts (spanning ad trade press, NGO & philanthropy) a bonus
  • A passion for the world’s most pressing social issues like  public health, civil rights, climate, racial equity, education, misinformation, impact measurement, brand purpose, and design.
  • You have experience communicating with diverse audiences from activists to corporates in thought leadership & social media
  • You are excited to work with global teams and people from diverse backgrounds.
